JG goes back to Ford County Mississippi to write a story of a young man who sees an opportunity to rescue a struggling local weekly newspaper in the early 1970's.
JG tells the story from the perspective of a man looking back over his life.
I like the way he tells the story from the looking back perspective.
The story has several subplots, one of which is the tensions of intergration of Mississippi and the people's non willingness to change with the times. Another is the introduction of drugs to this small town community and the last is the writer's relationship with a well respected black woman.

I love the intergration angle JG wrote in the book. The relationships that the writer has and develops are awesome. I felt as though I really got to know the characters. Though I do not necessarily agree with some of the political viewpoints portrayed, I felt that JG wrote the book from the perspective that a young man needs to change the world one person at a time.

Side note: I love JG and his writing is awesome. I like when he gets away from the legal stuff once in a while.

I felt satisfied with the book and was surprised at some aspects of the ending.

His points about corruption, desegregation, the justice system were right on for a guy like me.

Rating: a full clip (12/12)
Odd, i have a review of this one coming up. Good book. I like when Grisham gets back to the law, rather than his departures (since the only departure i liked was "The Bleachers").
