im 19 weeks pregnant. at the ultrasound yesterday, i was told the same thing, my baby has only a left lung n the heart is in the place where the right lung should be. he is not concerned with the one lung or heart on the otherside. he is concerned with the veins that are connected to the heart. he called it scimitar. i have not heard anyone on here mention that name. i was wondering how mama halifax baby is doing? was there any problems with anyone elses veins on here or their baby. my doctor said if the veins have grown in the right path my baby would be normal n healthy, but if not, he would need surgery to correct the veins n outcome on his life would depend on the outcome of the surgery. does anyone else have this issue?

Hey there, I have triplet daughters two of whom were born with no left lung, no pulmonary artery, narrow tracheas, and we just discovered that Meg has a uterus , ovaries, and vaginal atresia. It would be good to be able to have someone who has similar differences to talk to. My girls are 17 years old. Thanks~ Shaunna

So I can speak first hand on this. I was born with my left lung, heart on the right side, air tube problems, and on top of that bad scoliosis which I wore a backbrace for for about 4 years. In the second grade I had a tissue expander inserted on the right hand side and recieved inflations for a few years. I have a port on my right side along with some awesome scars. Growing up I had trouble with physical activity because I got winded really easily. That didn't stop me from cheering, dancing, karate, playing Clarinet, swimming, and the list goes on. I have never had any trouble flying on planes or riding roller coasters. I went to college in the mountains and never had a problem with the cold. I am now approaching my 24th birthday. I continue to astound people and blow their minds by proving them wrong. I am here as testiment that these physical limitations will not hold your kids back if they don't let them. My parents never gave me pity party and never told me no. I hope you do the same.

Hi all, I was born with one lung and my heart on the wrong side. Apart from a few complications during childhood I have been able to lead a normal healthy life. I turn 30 next year.

I was born with no left pulmonary artery and therefore only a right working lung.  This was in 1965.  I never knew it until a routine xray was done when I was 19 years old.  I am now 49 and have a 22 year old daughter and a 20 year old son and have never had any problems!  Starting to get a little winded now but not on any medication or anything!

Hello, my daughter was born a month ago missing her right lung and her heart moved to the right with a VSD and ASD. She is also has a narrow airway and the doctors are discussing a surgery to open the narrowing if it doesn't open on its own. She is currently intuvated and I would like to know if anyone has a similar experience and how long they had to be intuvated. I would like her to start breathing on her own

Hello, I know this is an old post but I would love to learn more. My daughter was born with one lung and issues with her airway. She just had a surgery to fix her airway. Were you intuvated for a while? How did you overcome these issues when born? Thanks for your help

I was born with only my right lung and my heart is on the right under my armpit. I'm now 27, I suffer with asthma, shortness of breath but I live a very normal lifestyle. I had no problems through school. I live each day to the full and I'm blessed!

This post was started by my great aunt with regards to my son who was born with one lung. He is 9 years old on Monday and is living a normal and full life. He gets a little out of breath more easily and has signs of very mild scoliosis with one shoulder lower than the other. I try to get him to exercise, to stretch and do yoga like poses. Quite hard to keep it up regularly but he does swim and has just started Kung fu so I'm hoping this will do him some good. Mainly I try to encourage him to be mindful about his posture, not self conscious just mindful. Otherwise all good, I hope he will have a long and normal life.
