My mother, who is 75 years old, has had bullous pemphigoid for quite a while now. The doctors have now suggested immunofluorescence to track the antibodies. What should she expect? It it painful, and if it is, s it really necessary? Please help my mom prepare for this procedure! Thank you for any replies.
I have to say that immunofluorescence is a technique that is rarely used nowadays, especially for bullous pemphigoid, because the development recombinant proteins has outdated it, basically. Mind you, if they want to do this, there must be a good reason for it. And it's not painful, just... very interesting, actually! Under a microscope, of course!
