Hello,

I am a 24 year old Male.

I have been taking Nexium for my heartburn problems for over two years now. I have had no issues or complications during this time.

However, for over two weeks now, I have been experiencing mild pain/burning coming from either the pit of my stomach or the entire left side of my abdomen. I feel bloated constantly, even though  I have bowl movements 1-4 times a day (mostly solid, no diarrhea). My diet has not changed, nor has anything significant happened. Im not under stress either.

The burning goes and comes, usually soon after I eat (no matter what I eat). The pain seems to be slowly getting worse, and I have some mild cramps all around my abdomen as well (again, they go and come).

Im tired more often now, and sometimes I have trouble concentrating. It also seems that the burning is spreading to larger parts of my left abdomen. Should I be seeing a doctor right away? What can be causing these symptoms?

Hi Kevin,

I have the same issues. I have had every test possible and everything keeps coming back normal. My Dr.'s think it's a bad case of reflux, but none of the medications are working. Mine is directly related to eating (like you, it doesn't matter what I eat even water can irritate it) I have been to several G.I. specialists, including the top specialist in the region (University of Penn) Nada!

My main concern is it is pancreas related, but every Dr. I ask about it quickly dismissses it as the culprit. Right now they are all saying IBS, but I have fairly normal bowel movements.

Anyway, you're not alone. Have you lost any significant weight? Is your bloodwork coming back normal?

I am half tempted to think that mine may be stress and anxiety related as I have not lost any weight and EVERY test comes back normal. If so, I would like to see a good shrink, this has been going on for over 3 years now

I have just started experiencing the same thing.... burning in the pit of my stomach & in my left lower quad & it comes & goes. I was put on prilosec 40mg back in October but took myself off of it in May since the NP told me I could try it since I wouldn't have the stress of school.

I started taking prilosec again when I realized this burning wasn't going away. However, it doesn't seem to be working. I would go to the MD but I'm scared that they're gonna brush it off like they've done in the past.

I would like to know if you went to the doctor & if so, what did they do for you? Hope you're feeling better.
