if you are at all worried about a csection, go to to the dr IMMEDIATLY. that is the best thing i can say.
my first csection got so infected. from the inside out, so i didnt know for 6 days, that was when i had a fever of 103.7 and went into colvusions and my belly button burst open and started pouring pus and blood. (my csection is vertical) i had to have major surgery to remove 2 pounds of rotted flesh and seval more major sugeries to remove dead flesh and had a wound vac put in. Then i had 8 more minor surgeries. they told me i couldnt have kids anymore. i have a 8 week old daughter now as well. (my oldest is 18 months now). i had a small hernia after the first messed up csection, with the pregnancy it became huge. they tried to fix it , but put in no mesh and within a week it riped back open and now i have actually 2 huge hernias in my stomach and another hernia in my lower intistines. very lower.. like low bowel but not a rectal hernia. this csection is infected as well but thankgod not nearly as bad. it ripped back open and dead tissue burst out, we packed it for a while and it got to small to back. the dr opened the hole back up so it could still drain all it needed to drain cause it was 2 inches deep and needed to heal from the inside out. it closed again, the dr said "let it, if it needs to open back up, it will". it just ripped back open. he is probably going to have to take me back to the OR and do another major debriedment and remove lots more dead tissue, possibly another wound vac. and THEN after all that, we will fix the hernias.. which will most likely also become infected because that area of my body (the hernias are at the top of the wound and the side of the wound, touching it and going out from) that part of my body is so delicate now and all granulation tissue instead of normal tissue and if i get infected mesh from hernia repair..... thats a HUGE HUGE HUGE deal that could mean death. but we can NOT leave the hernia's unrepaired because it is choking off the blood suply from the intestine that is pushing through it. we cant open it up now, cause with this infection then i would 100 percent get infectd hernia mesh and we cant have that.
i could go on and on and on about the horror and physical hell i have been through in the last 18 months. my daughters are totally worth it though. Even though im in pain 24/7 (it wakes me up), it makes me break down and cry at least 3 times a week and i pour sweat from the pain all the time and i look like Freddy or Jason attacked me and i managed to survive (it looks nothing like a surgical scar. it does look like i was literally butchered for my meat). they are totally worth it.
the reason i am telling you this, is to scare you. that sounds horrible. but if you are scared, you will go have it checked out NOW. and its better for me to scare you and it be nothing, than for it to be a huge deal and you wait and it become even worse, to what i went through, or even worse. so please, please. go to the dr. do not settle for a phone call consultation.
the swelling almost always happens with a Csection. not only because of the sugery itself. but the spinal. it stays in your system for up to 9 weeks and can cause horrible swelling (i now have stretch marks on the front of my shoulders, my knees and ankles the swelling was so bad both times) and cold spells.. anyone else ever started FREEZING for no reason? feels like a super high fever. it can be 75 degrees in your house, you have 3 blankets on you and your teeth are shattering and you are shivering violently? no fever though. its from the spinal. the medicine in it causes that. i didnt see anyone mention that (but i didnt read every single post) but incase anyone else has went through it and is wondering or worried... i still do it on ocassion.. only 1 more week though until the meds should be totally out of my system.
goodluck everyone.
i know all this is horrible and sucks and is painful. but its SO WORTH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i have had 3 c-sections. all 3 went very well. my healing with this 3rd one is a lil concerning. i have never had my staples taken out earlier than 1 wk later. this last time the resident decided that my incision looked good and that he would take my staples out b4 he would discharge me. i was concerned, but wasn't he suppose to be the doctor that knew better???? so now i have a draining incision, the very edge isnt closed, but getting smaller, my feet and legs feel like i'm walking around with water stockings on. my advice for peeps having a ceserean.....drink plenty of water, and dont let some resident take out ur staples b4 at the very least 1 wk later.

i had a c-section 5 days ago. My feet are swollen. I know this is normal. I know it will take weeks to see them go down. My baby is in NICU, I have to be there to give her my milk. I want to be there all day as well just because I don't feel normal not being with her. My feet of course get worse not keeping them up as I should. Am I at any risk of anything doing this?
