Thanks for the info on the CAM boot and alternate foot hip pain. I"ve had my boot 2 weeks for degenerative problems with ligaments in left foot. Immedialtely that pain was gone, but sure enough here comes the hip pain that has been worse. I tries wearing a taller shoe like a wedge but it still hurt. It seems like resting often is the key but I agree, don't sit for a length of time. I ws hoping icing would help. Do you think maybe heat or alternating cold/hot would help? I found strengthening exercises for hip socket and inner thigh/groin area. Is this the I band? I feel like a mad scientist. I'm creating insoles with foam rubber and combining other insoles hoping to get the right formula. Good luck everyone. I'm sorry for your pain, but comforted by the fact their are other people out there looking for answers. MJ

I had all the metatarsals broke by a doctor to help me walk better. Now my knee replacement and same hip feel like it has been hit by a truck.
The dr gave me pain meds but if I take them all the time I get sleeping and really stiff when I try to gep up and try to walk.
I have to get the other foot done still and hoping I will be able to walk normal again. I have been extremely sore since I have been using the boot for two weeks and after surgery. Getting very concerned.

Hi Dee. I wore an Airboot for 5 weeks in Feb/March 2015 for a fractured metatarsal in my right foot. It is now November 2016 and I am still trying to get rid of the last of left hip pain. Granted I have severe lumber arthritis and spondolithiasis, but if I had known how bad this can be, I'm wondering if I would have opted for a regular cast, which I have had once before. Yoga pigeon poses seem to be the most helpful.

I wore the boot one for daytime and one at night. Had two x-rays, one from my family doctor who
reported that my ankle problem was arthritic and then the specialist told me it was a stress fracture and an injured tenor. Used the boots for over two months. However upon going to my
family doctor to relay what the specialist found was exactly what my family doctor found. The
specialist report never showed any injuries. Now I am feeling pain in my other leg and more
importantly I have developed a lot of fluid retention if I DON'T ELEVATE MY FEET THROUGHOUT THE COURSE OF THE DAY. I am very concerned. Is this a possibility?

Hello everyone. So glad I found this page. I snapped four metatarsals in my right foot in mid-August and wore 'The Boot' for 8 weeks. For the last two weeks, I been getting excruciating pain in the anterior left hip, which is getting worse as it's now travelling down to my ankle. If I wake in the night and turn over, I'm almost screaming in pain. After sitting for 10 mins, I can hardly stand and walking is getting more and more difficult if I've sat for any length of time. Once I've been walking for 10 mins or so, the pain seems to go completely. Anyway, I've a doctor appointment next week so all the comments and posts above will be really useful in explaining the root cause of the problem. Hopefully. Thanks again, and hope you all are finding some relief from the pain. Andrea, UK.

to Dee: I am presently in that situation now. I already have double hip replacements- wore a camwalker for 6 weeks starting Oct.- then went to a wedge heeled little boot. All the while I was given lifts for the other foot (my L) but I never felt quite even.
I have horrible L hip pain- top of the hip- I'm very frustrated...I've been through enough with the hips since birth to NOT want this issue now. I was great before that damn boot.
will see my orthopedic in January to see whats happening. I'm looking for answers and a solution.

Im having the same problem. My tendon injury started last December. The doctor told me that it takes only few weeks to heal but last week I went to the doc again and stil not healed. So he prescribed moonboot. Omg, it is so heavy. I hate wearing it but i wanted to walk normally again. My right leg is hurting now, but it's bearable, seems my injury gets worse. Is there any lightweight moonboot that we can buy?
Comments are greatly appreciated, please i need to know if i have to stop wearinf this moonboot or not....

I'm having hip, shoulder and neck pain on the same side as the boot. I know it's related to the boot. I've only been in the boot a week. Will try to get an "even up" balancer thing for the "good" foot.

I have fractured my foot in two places. I bought a rubber elevation thing that attaches easily to my sneaker  from amazon so it evens me out when I wear the boot. That helps to even things out when walking.   I also have neuropathy in my feet so wearing the boot gets very very hot for me. What I do to ease the pain is elevate my foot a lot without the boot on and I go in the pool which is rather chilly right now in Austin, Tx. but the cold water helps the pain immensely. In the late afternoon  when I feel a lot of pain I take tramadol to ease it and that helps somewhat. My fracture is slow healing, so the Doctor says, so I just just have to deal with this on a daily basis. Sometimes I get tired of fastening up 5 velcro straps all the time...but that's what I got to do...

After having an operation on left my foot materials I wore and elevated shoe on that foot for 6 weeks. I am left with considerable pain if I walk any distance, or stand for a long time. When I turned over in the night the pain in my thigh and down my leg is awful. The pain goes when I sit down? I feel had I worn an elevated shoe on both feet this problem would not have occurred. Having so many people reporting experiencing hip and thigh pain after wearing this shoe you would have thought there would have been news about this. It seems this is a secret that has yet to be known.
I am searching for relief and trying exercises etc. `Good luck to anyone who find the cure for this problem, if you do please advertise on this forum your success story. Good luck everyone.

Had bunion surgery and put in a boot. After 3 weeks started experiencing excruciating pain in lower right back and right hip. Went to emergency room. In addition to 600 mg Advil and Vicodin prescribed for foot which doesn't even hurt anymore for back still taking those meds plus Valium for muscle relaxant, antinausea meds and steroid they gave me at hospital which works for two days. Tomorrow steroid wears off so who knows. Was in a lot of pain at 3 am this morning but now at 9 am after meds only in a nagging small amount of pain. So depressing because I used to work out at the gym 4-5 times a week and can't do anything for my 2 teenage kids and husband is understanding but annoyed.
