So glad to find this site and read everyone's personal accounts. I've been a chronic marijuana user for nearly 30 years. I've only had breaks when traveling overseas or for work. I have been smoke-free for 12 days and never felt this type of fatigue. My diet is excellent, and my overall health is fine. As a marijuana user my sleep was not very deep, it seems like my body or mind is making up for the lack of good sleep over the years. Thank you to everyone who posted.

Quit 1.5 weeks ago after smoking daily for 6 months out of a bong many days from 9am to 9pm. Fatigue and lack of appetite are the main symptoms. Lost 10 lbs when i am already skinny to begin with. Fatigue all day even after sleeping 7-8 hours. Eyelids very heavy. Last time i quit it was even worse as it gave me flu like symptoms, so grateful it is not as bad this time. I thought Id have trouble falling asleep, but nope the fatigue is unreal. If any of you get nausea from quitting I recommend taking ginger in any form. I make ginger tea by boiling ginger root in water and it is a life saver.

Hi, I sought out this information because I can relate to your experience. I had been smoking cannabis daily from morning until noon for 30 years, but I recently quit 5 weeks ago. I never smoked cigarettes as i constantly had cannabis, with cigarette to smoke I was that bad. It's true that I've never felt this tired before – my eyes literally struggle to stay open. Even now, around noon, I feel extremely heavy. To combat this, I try to stay active by stretching regularly and walking for an hour each day – a routine I've been following for the past 3 years.

I've also been concerned about a slight dull pain under my left rib. I've consulted a doctor who mentioned that fatigue could be an early sign of cancer, which has only increased my worries.

It's reassuring to know that others are experiencing similar feelings. I am aware that my body is likely undergoing a significant detoxification and adjustment process. I want to mention that my diet has been excellent for the past couple of years – I've been consuming plenty of greens and have significantly reduced my sugar and dessert intake.

The way it was explained to me is that over time with heavy use your circadian rhythm gets out of sync and in effect becomes useless. Like in the early days you’d sleep normal 8 but feel groggy and untested. Then over time the length of your sleep decreases and you feel even more fatigued in the morning. When you quit initially you go thru the insomnia because you don’t have the weed to fall asleep and your circadian is still out of sync. After a few weeks it starts to get a little better and you can sleep until about 3-4 hours, for most around 3-4 am and you’re starting to get slightly synced back up. After about a month you’re sleeping 6-8 hours and feeling accomplished but your body and foggy brain wants to crash out 3-4 times a day. Your body wants that rest. It missed that rest. As much as I’d like to tell you to give into it, DONT. Wake up early and get morning sunlight in your eyes. Get in an icebath to compensate for the dopamine your body is terribly screaming for since the absence of the cannabis. When I tell you going to the gym and getting your body moving can’t be over emphasized enough, it can’t. After about 60-90 days you’ll be feeling like a million bucks. I’ve been fighting this demon for 10 years and have done this many times. Stick with it!

Yesss I was just about to reply to that post saying this. Also "Nick" saying "smokers don't dream" uhmmm smoked for 15 years and I dreamt almost every night so that's a lie lol.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one getting tired but that's the only symptom I have so not too worried about it.

I’m 30 and have smoked weed daily since 15 years old. I’m on day 5 and thank god I found this thread. I have been so lethargic and exhausted since quitting. It is so discouraging. Reading numerous people say they’re one month in and still haven’t gotten their energy back and another saying it took them 2 months to get it back, just blow my freaking mind. I don’t know if it’s the lack of research into thc withdrawal, especially with how potent the new stuff is, or if it’s a conspiracy and they don’t want the public to know how bad weed is for you. Regardless, I hope everyone who is on their journey of quitting finds this thread, as there is extremely little “official” sites/articles that mention the lethargic/extreme tiredness you will endure aside from saying “possible short term lack of energy for heavy users”. I’m trying to accept this will take 2 months. I think we all should unfortunately. Good luck yall
