Wow, thanks for sharing what worked for you! I have tried boric acid (compounding kind) once for 14 days. It definitely helped me but about two weeks after I finished it, it came back. I have tried almost all azoles with no luck. What did they give you via iv? I have had mine for almost two years now. I would go into my ob/gyn and they would do a quick yeast swab and give me lots of diflucan. I did this for a year before I finally convinced them to culture it. Culture showed glabrata of course so I just started trying other medicines about 5 months ago. I would definitely be willing to try the boric acid again. Did you ever try the homeopathic boric acid option (yeast arrest)? Thanks again for posting! Since doctors are clueless with this how else can we get help!

One more question I forgot to ask. What did you do for diet? Was it just no simple carbs and sugar or did you do no dairy, no fruit, no wheat, no gluten, etc....?

The first thing I would say to you is to ask your doctor to ask the lab to do a sensitivity report on a swab.. its basically taking your swab and testing the range of antifungals to see what you are sensitive or resistant to.. glabrata is known to have a high resistance to azoles and to keep treating you with these has only made it more resistant.. out of the pool of antifungals there are azoles, enchinocadins which are only by iv.. then polyenes which are flucysotine, nystatin and amphotericin b.. which are not available vaginally in a lot of countries.. Treatment by iv is not something I recommend.. personally speaking.. treatment by iv is only recommended for systemic candida that is when you have it elsewhere in your body.. I became very seriously ill in hospital due to the severity and high dosage of what I was receiving.. and the drug was actually stopped because it reached toxic levels in my body.. damaging my liver and kidneys..if I knew all I know now I would never, ever consented to it.. the hospital had never treated it before and in fact I could find no doctor in my country who had treated it before..so I guess I was a bit of an experiment..the result was it didnt work!! When you think about it we only have tiny blood vessels in our vagina and when being treated by iv it has to travel through every organ in your body in the hope a tiny bit gets to the vagina.. not worth the consequences!!
No the boric acid that I used and what is recommended is 100% pure pharmaceutical grade boric acid and filled gelatin capsules size 00 with it.. but I would.advise especially since it helped before is using for a fortnight giving it a break and trying again..and having regular swabs with your doctor to see if your making progress and very importantly replacing your good bacteria directly to the area.. diet wise I was very strict, no dairy, no yeast, no gluten, no wheat,no sugar.and plenty of protein, eggs, salad..etc

I did a sensitivity culture. From what I could understand from the doctor mine is sensitive to really high dose diflucan (which is weird because it also came back resistant to diflucan) and voriconazole. Doctor didn't really want to give me these due to the dosage needed to kill it. Do they usually include boric acid in the culture? The only thing with mine is that sometimes I feel so awful with throat issues and brain fog that I think it has to be other places in my body. were you taking anything orally while using the boric acid? I sometimes think if I did a combo of boric acid and an oral antifungal it might work. Problem is with no medicine I feel awful but I feel awful on the meds!

Were you using any oral antifungal with this?
What side effects were there for you?
Were you able to determine whether you had the Candida other places in your body? If so, how?
Thanks again for the information and support!!!!

No since the iv antifungal, I didnt have any other oral antifungal because at that stage I was resistant to all the azoles which are the only option orally..the only tests that you can have to test for systemic candida that I know of are blood tests.. but in saying that if you have candida in your blood you are normally very, very ill and become so, very quickly as this is a very serious condition. As a doctor explained to me you wouldn't be wondering if you have it in your blood because you would so ill you wouldnt be able to function and would need to be hospitalised.. the other thing they can check is your bladder so a urine test to check for candida..both blood and urine were clear in my case..
In saying all that a lot of experts believe to have an ongoing vaginal infection you must have a candida overgrowth in the gut which can be treated of course more naturally..with natural antifungals in your diet or supplements and of course a good probiotic..
Even with only having it in the vagina, I understand how awful you feel.. some of how sick I felt, I put down to all the antifungals that were tried with me and the rest was definitely the glabrata infection..when you think your immune system is under a lot of pressure because its trying to help you fight this infection over an extended period of time.. that is another thing id suggest to try boost your immune system in anyway you can..I missed five months of work over it at the height of it, my legs were weak, I felt weak, sick etc and then add in the worry of having this, trying to treat yourself, striving to get the right treatment..it all puts tremendous pressure on your body and mind.. xx

When your doctor said you were sensitive but only in high dose but you had been told that you were resistant...I would say to you that when they do a sensitivity test there are three results resistant... means no amount of the drug will work at any dose..
Then there is what they state as dose dependant which is in the middle...your halfway resistant and for the drug to work you would have to receive very high doses to try supress outright resistance... in my case even with super high dose by iv I still became resistant..
And then sensitive ... normal dosage should kill..
No boric acid isn't used in a sensitivity test..and the other thing is glabrata does not become resistant (.. D)

Thanks for the information! I had my doctor do a blood test and urine culture. I was actually able to look at the sensitivity culture also. The only medicines my infection is sensitive to is ones they give through IV. I have a few dose dependent options though. I think I am going to try the boric acid again. I hope I can handle it. I'm with you on feeling sick, weak, and awful. It definitely has a big life impact:( did your sensitivity culture give you any options? i am praying I can get rid of this!!!!

What way did the boric acid affect you the first time? (...D)

I felt weak, lots of headaches and dizziness, some nausea. At least I think it was from the boric acid. Those symptoms got better when I stopped using it though I know those are just general candida symptoms also. Shockingly, the vaginal burning for me was minimal.
