I'm so sorry you are having a rough time! I hope you are feeling better! They don't do a sensitivity on the boric acid because they don't consider that a drug. I'm actually in the US in Iowa, and insurance doesn't pay for boric acid either as it's not considered a drug. The good thing is it's not very expensive. The pharmacist made up the pills for me . I hope things are better for you!

I am on my the boric acid again and am having cramping and side pain. The burning is there but not terrible. Did anyone else have side effects? Anyone able to tell when the infection was getting better? My doctor recommended the boric acid with itraconazole. Did anyone else try this or try another oral medication with the boric acid? I am worried this is going to be too much for me:(

Hello do you mind if I can get your email as well? I have been fighting glabrata for months as well with no cure.

Sorry to hear you are fighting this. It is awful! I don't think we can post emai addresses on here. What have you tried so far? I am still fighting it as well and still have so many questions as I continue to learn about it. I know some women have had luck with boric acid (I am on this for the second time). If anyone else has beat this using other methods or has insight on how to get rid of it or how to know your making progress please respond!

Sorry so many questions but when you did the breaks between the boric acid treatments, did you notice your discharge would increase or could you tell if the growth was rapidly returning? Also, after each round of treatment did you have any residual burning from the boric acid? Also, how much of a role do you think the diet and/or natural antifungals played? I just finished round 1 of boric acid (have been off 3 days) and I already feel burning again and have more discharge. I really wish there was a way to email you or to PM!

Hi everyone, I am the person who posted about trying several rounds of boric acid before I eventually got rid of a year long infection of glabrata.. just to update you all, I got the all clear in early sept and then I posted what worked for me here... I resumed normal activities, went on holiday etc at times I felt it was back, a bit of burning here and there etc, I had a swab done recently and got the results back last week..I am still all clear.. I think and the doctor agrees that after having such a long infection you can be left with residual symptoms, remember that glabrata can irritate your nerves. I dont think the brand of acidophilus matters but the one I used was quest acidophilus plus which also contains L rhamnosous which is a good bacteria also for the vagina if you are going to try establish good bacteria below by using on a panty liner, and I do think its very important in treating this to repopulate the vagina with good bacteria... to try get the balance right again..from now on im going to sign off with (D...) so you will know its me...to the lady who is considering ampho b..if its by iv please, please do your research first, I genuinely very nearly died after iv treatment and I was told the only option left for me was ampho b by iv, at that point I read, researched, my gut was screaming at me that it was the wrong road to go down, ive even been in contact with a doctor from the states who has one extensive research on treating glabrata..explaining the situation I was in and what the hospital here was wanting to treat me with, he wrote back in captial letters iv treatment does not work!! Dont do it! , obviously I couldnt afford to travel to the states for treatment thats when I decided to take control of my own health, changed GP, to one who listened to me..walked away from the hospital and consultants who didnt know enough about the condition and really took matters into my own hands.. again im only writing about my own personal experience and I know the nightmare I lived for a year, how scared and lonely I felt with this.. just done give up ladies... I really feel the boric acid will work even if if you have to do a few rounds

Its a pity we cant give our email address here, but dont worry about the questions..with me I had the burning from day one and throbbing which continued incessantly all through the year of the infection and through the treatment.. when I initially tried the boric acid that was compounded for me, that definitely burned the hell out if me, on hindsight I think there was an ingredient in the waxy capsule that didnt agree with me , when I made it myself with just the pure powder and the capsule it didn't irritate but yes the symptoms were still there but I did know the boric acid was helping.. as in the burning wasn't quite as bad..I left a week between treatments but it wasnt till I started using the acidophilus on a panty liner when I knew the growth was very light did I really start feeling better... so your killing it and putting back the good bacteria..because we do need that good bactera, it keeps everything right..if you look at my previous post even with two all clears sometimes I feel not right and a bit of burning, but as I said glabrata irritates your nerves and it can take a long time to settle down afterwards.. for anyone trying the boric acid route I do think its important to have regular vaginal.swabs so you can see if the growth is dying off or gone and dont forget the good bacteria, its just as important as killing it...I still take acidophilus orally every day

Also I meant to mention , that after trying the boric acid its so important to have regular swabs done between treatments to see if it has worked or is indeed reducing the growth, and not only that you need to ask your doctor to find out from the lab and swab what your flora is like..I.e your good bacteria its also important not to have too many good bacteria either you want the balance right.. you will.only know this by having swabs done because we also need the right PH balance in there.. because if your PH is off it can make your discharge too acidic which can also give you that burning feeling..so it really is a delicate balancing act.. it may take swabs and patience to get there..

Hi D.
I started the acidophilus (BlueBonnett) day before yesterday--I think it has 1 billion microorganisms. I took two yesterday and I have felt much better today. It doesn't have the L rhamnosus. I didn't use any in a panty liner. Was the acidophilus on the panty liner irritating? I ordered the Jarrow Femdophilus over the weekend which has the L rhamnosus and L reuteri which are supposed to be helpful in getting good bacteria in the vaginal area. Are you familiar with the Femdophilus? Did you use the vaginal ph testing strips to help you with balancing the vaginal ph? Or how did you do the vaginal ph balancing act. Thanks much for your response and sharing your experience!! Cindy
