Me too. It's been happening about 2 years. Some months it's worse. My obgyn says its hormone related and I found out my progesterone was almost none existent. Mine does have the same weird odor you described. I changed tampon brands it helped a little but still has an odd industrial smell. Not stinky almost like copper pennies. I'm using progesterone cream see if it helps. I had taken low dose estrogen bc pills for years so having stopped taking them my body just can't make progesterone again. So seems you all are experiencing the same taking the pill also us a common link. There's no infection things are normal but it's definitely hormone imbalances. I'm sure fibroids probably burst and release fluid since they are cysts but I thankfully don't have fibroids. I did however have a ovarian cyst a few years ago this started soon after I'm sure that's also hormone related. Good luck.

I am 53 and I have always noticed this during my period, just figured it was fluid from the uterus that had to come out, but you are right it overflows a tampon quickly and leaves a wet mess. Well just recently I have started using the DivaCup...do it, it has changed my life, I feel so much cleaner during my period, it is convenient and saves a ton of money and I do not have these overflow accidents, the only leakage is if you have not inserted it correctly, keep trying, it is worth it and only one night during a very heavy flow, it had filled almost full and I think because I was laying down it leaked through the little holes which if you read about it are there for this reason. But back to the watery discharge, when you use a DivaCup you actually see what is coming out of you and how much, I thought I would be grossed out, but the blood is mostly clean and bright red until your flow slows at the end, but you will see that liquid and understand what the issue has been with the leakage of the tampon, way more liquid, yellow or red tinted comes out at once than the blood flow, today I noticed it had a foul smell and freaked out so wound up looking on the internet to see if it might be a serious problem with the cup.As far as the liquid, how dumb of a doctor to knot have an answer, I expect a female doctor would know exactly what you are talking about, it has to just be a by product of the blood. We probably are so used to having a tampon or pad soak it up and accept a slight smell during out cycle from the air creating a smell as the blood escapes, but with the DivaCup the blood is never exposed to the air or in a bacteria ridden wet cotton stick inserted into our vaginas, get a cup and learn more about your mentrual flow and feel so much cleaner. I take it out during a shower and wash it off and reinsert. I have not had any problems in public restrooms, I try to go into the handicap stall that has a sink, but you will find once you have become comfortable with it, you can go many hours without needing to empty it.

I totally agree we have a gland that makes some girls "squirt" or "cum" . I've been thinking about that since I started experiencing this.

I can see these were replies from over a year ago but who cares... I'm in my early teens and this is happening to me. I've never had sex and this leaking liquid thing just started happening to me while I was on my period. At first I thought I was late about 3 days but I've been wearing pads incase it was a surprise (it happens a lot to me) then just yesterday I noticed the clear liquid

I found this on the Internet because it was just happening to me like a couple minutes ago. "In addition to the blood flow, women also release small amounts of clear or white vaginal discharge called leukorrhea.3 This discharge may alter in color and consistency during menstruation by becoming heavier and whiter (similar to an egg white consistency). Leukorrhea is a normal element of the menstruation cycle and helps to keep the vagina clean.2 However, other types of vaginal discharge can be dangerous. Therefore, it is important to learn the difference between leukorrhea and its more dangerous cousins in an effort to prevent vaginal discharge that can be harmful in the future." I hope this helped. (:

I'm 31 and I was told this was a fluid overload from bloating from your period and to take a water pill (Pamprin/Midol) to prevent it from just all of a sudden leaking everywhere- instead it slowly releases over the days of your cycle. My doctor said it is most common in overweight BMI 32 and up in women (I'm up to 212 now post my 2nd baby). Hope it helps but this is still awful for me.

Wow...very surprised as to how many other women are dealing with this problem. I'm 23 with no children (but would like children one day) It's troubling to hear that the doctors don't have a diagnosis for this. I have been dealing with this for about 4-6 periods now but it doesn't happen every time. My cycles used to be heavy and long and now they last a few days, still heavy, but that clear "discharge" leaks through my tampon. (Which still has the dark blood I have been used to). I'm hoping someone can figure out what this might be for all of us because it seems to be a common problem and I am glad I'm not alone! Praying someone can find out what the heck this might be!

I'm 25, have had a normal cycle for the past 13 years, and have recently started experiencing this issue for the past 6 cycles. It's extremely frustrating, embarrassing and quite frankly a little scary that we don't have any more information than just some theories of other sufferers. I asked my gyno last month and kind of pranced around the issue. I truly hope we can get some actual information soon. I want to have children within the next few years so I'm hoping this won't be an issue for me. If anyone can shed some light for us, it would be grrrreeeeeatly appreciated! I am 49. I had such heavy bleeding last summer that it caused my hemoglobin and ferretin levels to be so low I had to go for iron iv's for five weeks. My gynecologist then did an ultrasound and found fibroids as well. After that my cycle seemed to disappear so my gynecologist did a d/c in her office. Then I lost my cycle all together. I do get terrible cycle cramping and lately a clear discharge which forces me to wear panty liners constantly.

My gynecologist retired this month which will complicate things. I was told about a procedure which just removes the lining of your uterus so you don't get a cycle or it's minimal. Does anyone know if that helps with this problem as well??
