I experienced this same clear liquid discharge. I have never experienced this before. I am not on the pill, have intercourse regularly and use tampons every month. Very odd so many women experience this with no one in the medical field having figuring out the cause. My guess it is uterine cysts rupturing. Only an uneducated guess. Good to find so many other women experincing the same embarassing symptons.

I'm18 and started having this problem today. I was in class and it felt like I was leaking even though I had a tampon in. When class was over I rushed to my room and noticed there was no blood like I suspected. Just clear liquid. I took my tampon out and there was little blood on it. I am on birth control and haven't had sex in a couple weeks. My period came early (probably because I missed two days in a row so I had to start a new pack of the pill) and it's been going on for 6 days so far. I have no idea what it is and clearly neither does anyone else. It's frustrating how doctors don't know what it is or people are saying it's normal.

I've been having the same problem for almost a year...even had a Dilation and curettage - D&C procedure, as in addition to the clear fluid, my periods seem to last 15-17 days. It starts with a normal period for 4-5 days, then I have a medium flow for 2-3 days, then the rest of the period I have light brown mucus with heavy flow of the clear fluid...and it does have an acidic smell to it...and the texture is very watery. I am still scheduled to see my doc next month since the surgery and all other tests have not lead to anything. I don't even know what this condition is called. I am considering visiting another OBGYN to get some answers.
Any advice???

It's not just 'normal' 'uterus cleansing itself'.
I'm 35 years old, I've been having periods since I was TEN, and it just started this year.If it were 'normal and usual', I think I'd have experienced it at some other point in the last TWENTY FIVE YEARS.I am so sick of people saying 'oh, that's just normal' because they have no idea what causes something. It's not NORMAL when I've had this body thirty five years, and had periods in this body for twenty five years, and this is a NEW thing. What, my uterus didn't 'cleanse itself' for the last twenty five years? give me a break.
I agree. but have you found an explanation?
