I was making a sudden movement and felt a sharp pain near my Adam's apple. Then later there is a scraping feeling when I swallow, more discomfort than pain. What is going on?

Whenever I swallow (even without food or liquid) the front of my throat clicks. Any idea what this is? It has been doing it for a few months now. It feels slightly swollen there also.
