Thank you so much for your article. My mother suffers from restless legs syndrome and complains constantly about her cold feet. She has had to have blood many times. Shes on a blood thinner because shes had 5 bypasses and also a valve replacement. I knew she had an iron deficiency but I did not know that restless legs syndrome could be from that. She eats ice constantly. Again I thank you for your article and will try getting her to eat more foods that contain iron in them. Hopefully I can write here in a couple of weeks and report shes improved.

I found your article very informative & it reminded me that I was once told I was "borderline anemic" and had a possible iron deficiency but don't remember taking any iron supplements or eating any iron-rich foods. I also found the thyroid connection interesting. Although my thyroid tests taken a year ago show everything in the normal range, the underarm-temperature test for 7 consecutive days indicates hypothyroidism. I'm an avid snow skier & have heaters in my boots & wear mittens with disposable heater packs, but it would be wonderful to sit in my favorite chair in the house in the winter without having to wear cayenne pepper in my socks and place a heating pad under my feet! (I'm also a vegetarian--not vegan--but I wasn't as a little girl, so I can't blame my cold hands & feet on that.) I'm going to consume as many iron-rich foods as I can over the next month, with possibly an 18-mg/da. supplement. Thanks for the article. I'm glad I found it!

I am in similar situation as Sharie. I was having cold hand before I turned vegetarian. So maybe we have digestion problem not because of not eating meat. Meat can't help us get rid of cold hands.

I'm 17. And I started having cold hands and feet about 3-4 years ago. I weigh 100 lbs and eat well. I have cold hands and feet all the time. Sometimes I have sweaty cold hands which is embarrasing. Can someone tell me what I really have?

I am 53 years old male. All my life I had cold hands and cold feet regardless of the weather. It has never bothered me. I have always excelled in every sport I played.

Everything else is normal. My physical fitness is probably better then average for my age.

Great article! I am an 18 year old female and have experienced cold hands and feet, the need to constantly move, rearrange and stretch my legs and feet while sitting, dizziness, lack of energy, and fatigue. I've been taking iron supplements for about three months now, but have still been experience these similar symptoms. I'm pretty certain now from this article, that I probably have restless leg syndrome and iron deficiency anemia. Thanks for the helpful information.
