I had a hip replacement 5 years ago and have been suffering with bursitis for the last 3 years. The injections only last for 2 months but you can only get the injection every 3 months. I am having the procedure in Feb. I, too, can't find anyone who has had the surgery.

I know four people who have had trochanteric bursectomies with IT Band releases, two were women post THA, they both did really well and are virtually pain free now. One had torn glut tendons which can be visualized during intra operative inspection and sometimes do not show up on MRI. Hers did not. The other two did not have total hip replacements in place, and are also doing well. Find an orthopedic sports surgeon or hip surgeon. You may have to look a bit out of your area. Very few can do it endoscopically but even with the open procedure the success rate according to many on line studies is anywhere from 70% to 90%....look them up.
