I have ADHD, so does my boyfriend and his youngest brother. By changing our diets have all managed to control our symptoms to such an extend that we do not need medication any more. As a post graduate student in Biochemistry, I understand that we really are what we eat. If you cut down on processed foods in your house, you will not only solve your daughters attention problems, but also take a step in avoiding cancer and autoimmune disease.

I never reply to post but who is anyone to judge a person b/c they give their kid meds that they need? if your kid was a diabetic you would give them their medication??? A child/adult that suffers from ADD/ADHD has a valid medical condition and should be addressed as such. Each person is different, and I respect everyone's opinion and it is YOUR decision to not medicate your child b/c you don't believe in medication for a child but I have seen many children and adults that do very well on their medication and then those that do not do well and if you can help your child and medication will help them not be frustrated, the meds work for them, then give them the medication. I have a 22 year old son that suffered at my ignorance b/c I didn't believe in medicating a child and finally I gave in and tried medication and GUESS WHAT it worked!!!! We started him in the 3rd grade and that was after I tried diets and everything else, we tried low dose ritalin and it worked great except he was so nauseas so we put him on adderall and he did not do well with that medication either and we landed on concerta and he gained 50lb that year and that was it, he wouldn't take any medication after that and today 5/6/13 he came from the MD and said he can't take it anymore and asked for concerta b/c college is brutal, he says that his brain runs miles and is all over the place and concentration is the hardest thing. I dont have ADD but I have 2kids that do and I respect parents decisions but if all non med treatment fails then try medication, i am not agreeing to have a kid on 20 meds, and i have seen that but dont judge a parent for medicating their child, it isnt fair to the child
