There are different types of kidney scans. Get a copy of your scan results from your gp and we will go from there. I agree with you that your problem most likely lies with your kidneys rather than your spine.

thanks for your reply i will ask when i go hopefully on monday. it wont surprise me if it is kidneys as a year ago i kept getting cystitis and they checked my urine and i had a high amount of red blood cells in it so i was sent to a urologist and he just said it was probably my back and if there was protein in my urine its my kidneys leaking if not its my back. and when i had cystitis again forth time that year in the space of a few weeks the doctor checked my urine and said theres a little bit of protein in it of course i mentioned straight away what i had been told by urology but he just said it was nothing to worry about.

I disagree with your urologist that it was nothing to worry about. Proteinuria may be a sign of kidney damage (toxic lesions and renal failure), diabetes mellitus, infections and a host of other serious conditions, even though it may be caused by stress and strenuous exercise. That is why you need to get your urine tested more often to make sure you don't have something serious. Blood in the urine may be a result of urinary tract infection, or may be something as serious as kidney cancer (often accompanied by persistent side and back pain). Did they ever run a kidney function test on you? If your current urologist did not take you seriously, you may want to see another one.

In the meantime, drink lots of cranberry juice. Cranberry juice is a home remedy for UTI. Please let us know when the test results come in.

Hi there, I'm sorry to hear that things are going badly for you right now but it sounds like you should be okay in a few days. When do you get your results back again? Was it this week?
