Constant sensation of something stuck in throat

i HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM, SOMETHING STUCK IN MY THROAT AND CARNT GET RID OF IT, CAN ANYONE HELP AS IM SUICIDAL, tHE DOCTOR AND HOSPITAL DONT WANT TO KNOW AS THEY SEND ME BACK AND FORWARD TO EACH OTHER, A DONT NO WHAT TO DO ANY MORE PLEASE HELP ME SOME ONE, ANSWERS MITE HELP

Have a swallow study done..for aspiration. Look up dysphagia and see if any of that looks familiar.

You need something called an EGD.  They sedate you and use a scope to look at your esophageus, measure the width, look at your stomach and upper bowel.   We think mine is from scar tissue but I havent had my EGD yet.  It could also be a hiatal hernia.  You should probably ask your Dr to send for a barium swallow.

 

Hi ther I had this issue in two thousand and nine, after going on holidays to malasia and trying out the different foods etc, I also missed my kids as they were with my sister and I was worried too, I felt that thaere was something there took antacids and it seemed to assis while there, when I came back then went to see the docotr he sent me to a ENT the ENT did a barium swallow said nothing to be found so sgave me valrim 5 mg and after sometime a week or so it vanished, disaeared only to come back in last year, in setember, this time went to another doctor she did a gastrocoy but also had me on zorton so when I went for the test I had taken zorton the revious night so I not sure if this migh mask the roblem too, came out ok even for H ylori, she aske d me to thake zorton, and back on valrim and sent me to another secialist ENT this guy was like in too much of a hurry said had ost nasal dri , during this time also had tonsil stones when I showed him he said food articles , ok why do I have to squueze food articles out like a zit from my mouth as when my tongue rubs against it it make me gag so when I ush it out feels better, or if I had to cough hard it might sometimes come out anyway as I was going throu this I got very bad sinus issues I have asthma I was ut on doxy, for 4 weeks lus other medicaiton, antibiotics, went back to ENt did scans, said had olys, and deviated nose, In the mean time also got a lum in fron of the arch in the mouth, sho it to ENT had me on rednasloan for a week the think stayed the same, I asked him about it said it was due to ost nasal dri, did not like him so was referred to another doctor the first on e I wne t to ENT, my doctor had done all the test for thyroid, b12 folic fbt all normal excet vitamin D and the allergy test came out as 1666 it shoud be between zero and two hundred so the ent said that I need to find out what is causing such high allergies and sent for me to test for dander, grass ollen and dust, I know I will be allergic to these waiting results also asked me to take rednasalone 1 for 7 days am and then half for 7 days and 12 for alternate days for thirty days started it on monday as well as demazine tablet in the night, went to see my doctor she said that to take it as it might hel me with the allergy season taking it reluctantly Before I started on this I had a mucas yuck stuff in my throat and the doctor said it is ost nasal dri thats why and did nothing until ti turned chunky and ieces yellow in throat then ut me on anthibiiotics hich heled the throat a bit still had the mucas slightly though thats when I had to go to the ent and he ut me on rednaselon and demazine, dont feel the mucas in throat but the weirdfeeling comes and goes I also get on and off neck ain comes and goes as well as jaw clicking when I eat sometimes it hurts at the monment it is only the cruchy noise, I had this feeling today and last monday so I got some zantac and took it , on monday and today, I halted taking the zorton as it made me bur a lot and then it made me feel like I was not able to bur at all and very uncomfortable, the feeling at the moment comes and goes I feel my hear racing my memory is foggy, for get a bit I was not like that before they did a coule of scan on neck area one said the glands were u and the next time they sia dit was normal I did it at two different laces, Zantac too makes me bur and then I struggle to but when I bu I get some relief, I drak warm water with ginger brewed with honey, to break the mucas and it heled a bit, but now theere is no mucas cough even though I still have to take the regnasalone and the demazine, as it is a thrity day couse, I wish I knew what is wron I used to be hay fgo lucky and now I am moody , angry and grumy I have changed due to this If any of yu have any answere or know what is going on lease kee us informed as to what yoyu are doing and if you have sotred it out cheers Heather

Sounds like borrelia burgdorferi bacteria (causative agent on Lyme disease). I have the same problem with this frequently. Problem is most labs not accurate/sensitive enough to pick it up

I have had the same feeling in my throat for the past three weeks; a feeling of a lump in throat/throat closing. It started out as a sinus infection, I thought. The prednisone helped for a short while. When the predinisone wore off, the feeling came back - I ended up going to the emergency room at 4 am because I was freaked out, thinking my throat was closing from medication for the sinus infection. Another dose of prednisone for a week cleared up the feeling, but again I find it difficult to swallow and it is interfering with my sleep. I have a difficult time falling asleep with my head down on the pillow, I have to sit up so that I can feel like I'm breathing. I have found some relief using nasal strips, which open up my sinuses and help me to breath more easily, decreasing the sensation of my throat tightness. I am now on nasonex and dexilant, heading toward seeing ENT asap. I hate this!

i TOO HAD THE SAME ISSUE WENT TO THE ENT, SAID HAD HIGH ALLERGIES AS THEY DID THE TEST AND BASICALLY SAID THAT NOSE IS DEVIATED CAN DO A OPERATION BUT T WONT HEL DUE TO THE HIGH ALLERGY RATING TO DANDER AND DUST MITES , WAS ON SOLOAN FOR ALL SUMMER AS I HAD OST NASAL DRIP TOO, WENT TO TWO DIFFERENT ENT FIRST ONE WAS DETERMINED TO DO THE OPERATION WITHOUT DOING ANY ALLERGY TEST 2ND DID THE ALLERGY TEST FIRST ANYWAY, MINE STARTED WITH SOMETHING BEEN IN THROAT THEN WENT TO HAVING PRESSURE FROM THROAT TO UERCHEST, THEN HAD TIGHTNESS UERCHEST AREA, DRY COUGH THAT WOULD JUST COME ON DOCTOR ALSO GAVE ME A TRIAL ON NEXIUM AND THE PRESSURE RELIEVED FROM NECK AND CHEST TOOK ABOUT A WEEK BEFORE I FELT ANYTHING, OST NASAL DRI IS GONE, BUT ON THE 22ND HAD A MEAT IE, AND FELT IT AGAIN PRESSURE IN CHEST AREA, THROAT ETC, IGNORED IT AS I DON'T LIKE TAKING MEDICATION, GOT WORSE ON SATURDAY WITH COMPRESSION ON BOTH SIDES OF CHEST SO TOOK ZANTAC BUT HAD NO RELIEF SUNDAY FELT THE PRESSURE IN CHEST AND LIKE OUT OF BREATH, WITH A AIN ON RIGHT SHOULDER BLADE, TOOK ZANTAC AND DID IT AGAIN ON MONDAY, BY THE TIME I WAS WALKING HOME FELT THE RESSURE MORE IN CHEST AND DIFFICULTY IN BREATHING AIN ON BACK OF SHOULDER BLADE AND A COUGH DRY BUT FELT AS IF SOMETHING WS COMING FROM THE STOMACH AREA WHEN I COUGHED, BURING MAYBE DUE TO THE ZANTAC, ALSO HAD A LOT OF SALIVA IN THE MOUTH SINCE FRIDAY,, A LADY AT WORK SAID THAT WHEN SHE HAS A LOT OF SALIVA IT IS A INDICATION OF HER REFLUX FLARING AND SHE HAS TO TAKE A NEXIUM, SAW THE DOCTOR WHO DID AN ECG WHICH CAME NORMAL BLOOD PRESSURE 14 ULSE IN 9OS, CHECKED ME OVER, SAID THAT THERE WAS A LOT OF GURGLING LIKE WIND IN MY BODY SHE CHECKED THE STOMACH CHEST , ASKED TO TAKE GAVASCON CAME HOME NOT TOO BAD SO DID NOTHING, NEXT DAY HAD SAME FEELING SLIGHTLY, THOUGHT BUT CHEST PRESSURE BACK RIGHT SHOULDER BLADE AIN AND FELT LIKE RIGT HAD WAS NOT HAVING MUCH ENERGY , DECIDED TO TAKE THE GAVASCON AND IT HELPED TO EASE THE AIN IN CHEST SHOULDER BLADE, ETC SINCE THEN BEEN TAKING NEXIUM 2O MG, WANT TO KNOW IF ANYONE HAS BEEN TAKING THIS AND FOR HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN ON IT FOR REFLUX, JUST WANT TO KNOW,

so sorry to hear of your situation. ENT said that my allergy to dust mites probably worsened the effects of a sinus infection. he has me on dexilant (for probably gastric reflux) and nasonex to open sinuses and i'm to report back in a month. meanwhile, i am trying to figure out how to deal with the reflux (GERD). I was amazed at the foods/drinks that cause flare-ups: alcohol, caffeine, tomato based foods, tea with or without caffeine (that I was drinking thinking it would open up my throat!), chocolate, antibiotics (which I was on for the sinus infection!), progesterone (which I had been on for 3 weeks when this all happened!), looser pants, eating within 3 hours of going to bed. I am sleeping practically sitting-up, which seems to help. I will let you know how it goes when I am able to stay away from chocolate, coffee and my week-end beers! I've lost 4 pounds since this all started a month ago! Not complaining, since I needed to lose the weight, but I'd rather be exercising!

sometimes THYROID issues can cause these symptoms. A simple blood test sometimes shows up a need to take medication . This worked for me.:-)

Same here ! Doctors ran all kinds of test to find out it was aniexty I get that feeling when the weather is crazy to (allergies)

Did you figure out what was wrong? Could it be fungus in the throat?

Hi I had exact situation. Eating asian noodle soup and got what felt exactly like a basil leaf stuck in back of my throat but couldn’t see or touch it or get it to go down. Super irritating although i could breathe and eat fine. So heres what happened. Actually got mine to go away. Stuck my finger up behind the back of my throat. Looking on the internet i guess it’s where my tonsils would be but had mine out when i was a kid. Maybe that caused the problem. Theres like a fold back up in there, Kind of on the sides behind the uvula, When i felt around and figured out there was like a fold there it just made sense maybe a leaf might get stuck or jammed up in there. Made me gag big time to feel around with my finger there, then after that the sensation of a leaf being there got even worse, like maybe i actually moved it, so i threw my head back and gargled w a bunch of water. To my shock after gargling i couldn’t feel it anymore. I couldn’t believe it. And yep it’s gone. I can’t feel it anymore. Wasn’t a fantom feeling or a laceration or in my head.
