Hi, guys! I've been having the same problem. I experienced the shortness of breath, yawn that is almost there but goes away, and it's so uncomfortable and irritating. Could it be asthma or anxiety? Sometimes I'm afraid to sleep because of my situation. Been doing breathing exercises but it doesn't help that much.

An immediate remedy is a bottle of water mixed with raw honey preferably arbutus honey which is strawberry tree honey and organic vinegar and lemon juice this does the trick every time

It's a really horrible feeling, I know from my own experience. I've suffered from this a few times in my life. The last time it happened, it lasted for days until I took anti-inflammatory herbs which solved the problem quickly. I ate ginger, golden seal, tulsie leaves and cayenne pepper. Chewing raw ginger seemed to work the fastest and is also a remedy for headaches. Please try it. It worked excellently for me. Also, remember to avoid foods that cause inflammation in the body. Much love, healing and peace to you all!

i think it is the chronic hiden hyperventilation syndrom, and i think its a habbit of constant sighing and yawning while resting and the cure is not in medics, but in changing that habbit only with the power of will so its not the end of the world although it is a bit uncofortable.I had it 2 times which the first lasted for a week, the second few months this time it just started, and every time is from a very strong workout long and without rest which i think is the shift in the breathing pattern for me.So today i start conciously to breath normaly, although i have an urge to take a deep breath every few minutes and if not i think i will stay out of air,but its better for now since i know that i wont and just i need to change this habbit. Its not my first time so i dont panic or have anxiety thoughts or anything,im realy quite confident and hope that very soon with strong will power from my side it will be gone and the habbit of breathing normaly will come again.Dont lose hope, dont buy meds everyone even i think its no need to do any bunteyko or whatever since im too lazy to do that, just try to shift the breathing pattern to normal and thats it,even though its a bit hard i hope me and u will also enjoy that process of fighting this bad habbit and as just as we started enjoying and having fun with it,we will see that its gone, and maybe even miss it a bit :P

Keep us posted. I have this as well and it has caused panic attacks and going to the ER on several occasions. I have several conditions that I think contribute to this (GERD, deviated septum and back issues) but no one has been able to help. This condition has caused much anxiety the last two years. Not sure what to do.

It makes me feel better that I'm not the only one that has suffered from this since I was very young. I have had this problem since I was a very young girl, probably 10 yrs old or so. I am now 66 yrs. old. I go for long periods of time with no problem at all. Then out of the blue, here we go again. It can be one of the most irritating things. I don't believe mine is stress related. I am leaning more towards allergies or something like that. Just wish it wouldn't happen at all!!!!

I can't reply to everyone here, but I have felt like I couldn't get a full breath of air for almost 9 months. Panic attacks and continued elevated anxiety have been with me ever since. After countless appointments and many specialists. Cardiologist, Pulmonologist, E.N.T., G.P. and EVERY horrible test that they could throw at me. I finally was diagnosed yesterday with Vocal Cord Dysfunction by an Allergist. Please pass this along to everyone that you can. I'm sure this doesn't apply to everyone of course, but it is certainly worth looking into. My symptoms got so bad that I thought i was going to die from this mysterious problem. In my case it is all due to Acid Reflux/Gerd. Good luck everyone!

Hope I can help here....I began having this problem several months after Covid shutdown. I test negative Covid btw.  +++When I take an Airborne fizzy, in 30 minutes I breathe normally.  I cough and have to clear my throat for a few minutes, it brings up Phlem that must be "sitting at the bottom of my lungs".  Maybe why we can't get that end of breath we crave.  Mine has slowly gotten better.  I take an Airborne fizzy in water, morning and late afternoon for the night (I then sleep fine).  If in between I do feel the urge to yawn or heaviness in my chest, I take another dose...it's better in twenty minutes then.  If you get heartburn from so much acid C, take a swig of Pepto before taking the fizzle in water.  Airborne has anti-inflammatory herbs in it that work. C also of course.  If I take it ASAP I won't get a cold when I feel it coming on.

it works for these symptoms here and I am grateful   But why?

The cause?  Working on it.  Is this an allergic reaction, as are so many symptoms? People here say physical tests are negative.  I got a new cat, this time short haired which can cause allergies (tho never before).  I got new baby chicks, bedding them in straw not shavings. Am I allergic to this straw?  I was sitting on my iPad, for hours while confined....clogged lungs from couch potato syndrome? The stress from QT?

Sometimes my lungs simply feel enflamed.  So I took an Chloretrimeton (generic thru CVS) last night and 1/2 Motrin and it helped.  Will try again...that would indicate a mast cell response to an allergy, releasing histines.

inflammation in the lungs causes them to produce mucous.  Airborne immediately quiets it, and expels the mucus.  That's what I think.

Why are our lungs inflamed?  What is bothering them?

I think it's an allergy.  (If we were sick...many here would already be dead!)

but allergic to what.

You have a good point but you did not give a good explanation as to how this is done.

I happen to have lung issues (mild Bronchiatiasis and nodules) as well as a sore rib cage (x-rays show no problems with ribs and awaiting latest x-ray check-up for lungs and am anxious over that.) And I have acid reflux and always seem to be clearing my throat. Was told that can cause this too. An ENT doctor once told me that I seemed very dry. That I needed to drink more water. I read that dehydration, even slight, can cause shortness of breath and a rapid heartbeat. Sometimes when I drink more water this seems to resolve. So perhaps that will help some of you who are experiencing this too. I am older now. 68. I worry about my lungs all the time so this symptom keeps me panicked. The Covid situation has me in a stressful mode for nearly 2 years. Sometimes this needing to inhale or yawn goes away and I am able to do my exercise walking, and other times I feel winded and can't catch my breath and try to yawn. Our house has lots of stairs. Some days I go up them without a thought, other days I feel winded and keep trying to catch my breath. People my age tell me it's age, but in my case, I don't think so. I guess the more I focus on this, the more I seem to have the symptoms because there were times I was occupied so much that I realized I hadn't tried to inhale or yawn. I empathize with all who have this but I am kind of relieved to see I am not alone in this.
