My mother had a laser surgery for piles three months ago. She had normal stools before the surgery. Now even after three months of surgery, she is experiencing hard stools. She has been taking laxatives but of no avail. The stools become hard at the end of the rectum because of which she is experiencing difficulty in passing it even though she gets the nature's call. though she is consuming fiber rich diet, it does not seem to help much. Intake of water is also more than sufficient. She is also suffering from hyper acidity. Please help!!!

Hi! Normally a proper diet would solve the hard stool problem, but it seems that she should look for the cause elsewhere. Maybe this is caused by some medicines she takes. She could talk to her doctor about colon cleansing, it's very effective for curing constipation.
