A week ago, I started panicking in the middle of the night because I thought I was going deaf in my right ear. I shut my eyes very tightly to try to get this thought out of my head. When I opened them a few seconds later, I felt a sharp pain on them, and a sudden tension rush starting from the back of my neck.(I did not have any unusual symptoms before this occured) When I felt that happening, I started to panic even more and the tension rushed to the back of my head. My neck became stiff and I felt pressure on my scalp. The pressure did not hurt me at all, but it was just a nagging feeling. It felt as though someone was pulling my hair back, but without any pain, just pressure?
I calmed down after going for a short walk, but the pressure was still there. The next day, the pressure was still there, and it felt worse as I looked down, up, or turned my head to the side. My neck and shoulders would also ache as though I had pulled a muscle? My eyes would also feel strained. The pressure would go away as soon as I lay down. Also, whenever I clench my jaw--I do have TMJ--the pressure would return to my scalp.
I visited the ER four days ago and got a CT scan. The doctor said everything was normal: my blood pressure was normal, heart rate, brain... Could this pressure be caused by anxiety? A sudden migraine from stressing out too much? Or was my TMJ triggered even more by the stress? :$ Has anyone every experienced this?

hello there friend,
There s no need to panic because these symptoms which you have mentioned above are simply panic attack-anxiety symptoms . In the beginning when anxiety started to hit me so badly, ive experinced similar symptoms like you have said . I had a lot of dizziness . Pressure in my scalp and like going numb . A sudden rush of very hot sensation coming up from my back and hitting my back of my brain ( belive me i can tell you it was so painful, I could feel the pulsating of the blood beating inside my brain) .
Feeling of going deaf is just a very common symptom of anxiety or panic attack. You know these two works so much together and they mimic the feeling of going ill . As I told you before feeling I had long periods of feeling dizzy a lot or lightheaded . I would wake up after sleep in panic mode like shaking or even had visual shaking and inner tremors. I had those really they suck . Heart palpitations a lot too especially when I was going to fall asleep. Depersonalazation or dearalaztion is hard to explain this psychological sensation is like everywhere around you is a dream . I recommand you to talk to your doctor about what you are experiecing here. I thought I was going crazy but no I wasnt they are just a symptoms of a trauma or shock . Anxiety hits you just simple like you catch the flu , plus that Im depressed too my friend I have feelings of sadness and lack of motivation so just imagine my mixture of cocktail , I have to carry all this everyday on my shoulders.
Trust in yourself , you have to work out and fight a lot for it to beat it. Go out from the house and enjoy ure friends and family . I dont take medications . Once I used to but not anymore because thery werent working for me. Last and not least give urself completely to God. I f you believe in him just trust him deeply and he starts to listen to you and give you more and more good days . Trust in him my friend , and you will feel much much better.
Take care and tell me how you feel now,
Regards,
Gil from Malta

Personally I haven't experienced this, but anxiety can most definitely make you physically ill. A few years ago when I was younger (I'm 17 now), I was sick with stomach pains for weeks. I believe it even reached a month before I finally controlled my anxiety a little more. I went to the doctor and had multiple tests. Urine test, stool test, blood test, x-ray of my stomach and they found nothing wrong with me. As a matter of fact It's happening again right as I write this. I've been sick to my stomach for the last 3 weeks or so and I believe It's related to my anxiety yet again. Every little pain I get, every little thing I feel is some crazy self-diagnosis that I'm going to die. Some examples include yesterday morning when I had a small pain on my left side, right around my armpit, I though I was going to have a heart attack. I felt a sharp pain on the bottom right hand side of my abdomen and I though "Oh man I've got appendicitis." Yet here I am now, over 24 hours later perfectly fine. I mean, I still have the stomach ache, but at least I'm alive and (somewhat) well. It just takes a lot of mental and personal strength to try and control your anxiety. I myself am trying to relax as much as possible so my stomach can go back to normal.
