So much of the information on this forum is wrong.
I am a third year MD student, and my current rotation is in working with morbidly obese patients from a phsycial and psychological persepective to reduce the actual weight, but also to change the lifestyle habits that have got them in the condition in the first place. Firstly, there are so many factors that contribute to the way your body puts on, stores and loses weight. Here's a few pointers: - Duromine is an appetite supressant but it is also a stimulant. - Duromine aids weight loss by increasing energy and decreasing appetite. - This is done by affecting the central nervous system, not your tummy, or your fat, or your muscles telling you to run faster, but it alters the messages your body is sending to your brain to say it's time to eat. It's important to note that those messages are vital messages. Your body doesnt just tell you it's time to eat for the sake of it. It does it to keep you alive. - In terms of how much duromine can do for you, it is quite seriously limited. It tends to lose effectiveness quite quickly if you take a 'break' from it and return to it later, and long periods of use can affect its affectiveness. - It has a substantial list of side effects that extend a lot further than just dry mouth or insomnia, Duromine can have adverse effects on your lungs. Anyone that has taken duromine for a long period of time should stand up, and spin the top part of their body side to side and listen for an 'airy' noise coming from their chest, as if air is being pushed out of your lungs on its own. This is a very common and very serious and should be seen to immediately.
A little further up, someone mentioned something about your body going into starvation mode and clinging to every ounce of fat. This is utterly incorrect. To be frank, the best way to lose weight is to send your body into starvation mode by changing eating habits and this can be done very easily without Duromine or Reductil or any other crazy drugs fiddling around with your body. The state of starvation is called ketosis and its the principal method of losing drastic amounts of weight at a fast rate. Ketosis also tells your body that you are not hungry, however it requires a little more food planning and organisation than paying $100+ dollars to pop a pill each morning. Goodluck everyone.
