Has anyone heard about new laws for blood testing before driving?  I am a bit worried about the whole thing.  I don't know what they are looking for, like your blood glucose level, or your A1c reading?  I know I am o.k. for driving but what if I am running an unusual blood sugar that day?  Will they take my license away or suspend it?  Is it legal for them to take blood or require we give up blood to be tested?  Does anyone have any information on this?  I am not happy about it at all.  I hope whoever told me was misinformed about the whole thing.  I don't want to have something happen to where my license is taken away because of an incorrect reading.  Anybody know for sure?  I drive for my job and this would be a hinderance to my bringing in an income for my family.  Actually, it would be catastrophic.  I hope that this isn't a new law that will be coming to be.

Hello, Guest.  I do not believe there are any new laws for blood testing before getting your driving license, at least not in the U.S.  I wouldn't think it would be legal but they could ask you if you are diabetic and request information from your doctor about the severity of your diagnosis (like having hypoglycemic episodes, etc.).  I think you are safe to go renew your license without the fear of losing your license or having any type of suspension of it. Are you having normal blood sugars on the most part?  How is your A1c?  Are you compliant with your diet?

Does any of our forum posters know anything about new laws for blood testing before driving?  If you know anything, please share and let us know what country you are from.
