Hi,
Due to my job an age I’ve developed almost constant back and neck pain and even though chiropractor appointments do wanders and help me to be pain free for at least some time, constant visits are becoming too expensive. I’ve read several guides and tips on how to do neck traction at home, without any special tools or help, but to be honest I’m being on the cautious side here because I feel that if I do something incorrectly I might cause even more problems. So, I’m hoping to find fellow neck-pain sufferers who might have tried or were successful in doing neck traction by themselves at home, or at least tips or advice whether it smart to even try doing this without chiropractor.
Thanks for any replies, Tom

Hi Tom, I too have neck pain coming from 2 protuding and 1 extruded disk. In the beginning traction felt wonderful as did massage therapy. But as I progressed the amount of time I gained relief was dramically shorter and shorter. Relief then gave way to a stiffness in my neck and upper back. Unbearable on top of all the radicular arm, shoulder blade and chest pain. My neurosurgeon had told me if traction and therapy do not SIGNIFICANTLY improve your pain then continuing you could be doing more damage. He also advised that traction and therapy will only help bulging/protruding disks, NOT herniated or extruded. Have you had an MRI

Hello Annie, thank you so much for replying! I haven't had an MRI done yet, but I am scheduled for one in May. That's the main reason why I'm trying to be on the cautious side and not do anything without knowing what the exact problem is. I mean, I know it's neck pain from my desk job - but like you said, what if I have herniated or extruded disk and just continue with doing the wrong thing... Traction I had done at chiropractor's did help with the pain, so until I get the MRI tests done I think I'll stay off home treatments. Thanks again!
