had my gall bladder taken out in march, after suffering a long time with gallstones. i had my operation in the morning and later on that day started being sick and suffering pain were my gallbladder was. the nurse said that it was down to the gas that was used during the operation. i was sent home the day after still suffering sickness and pain. after a couple of days, the pain was so bad, i couldnt eat or sleep or even lie down, my stomach was swollen and hard. my husband called the doctor who came out and said i  needed an ambulance. by this time i didnt even have the strength to walk and lost any feeling to go to the toilet. the pain was very bad and i was starting to see things that wasnt there. i was admitted to hospital and the day after was sent for a scan, in which nothing showed up. the doctors decided to take me back into theatre a second time to see what was going on. when i came around, i had three drainage bags and tubes coming out of my abdomen. they told me that  they had  drained three litres of bile from my abdomen and put me on a strong antibiotic through a drip. they said that one of the clips had come off where they seal the duct that had my gallbladder attached, and that this was were the leak may be coming from, or that the clip may have caught the bilary duct. i was so weak at this stage, after having two operations and apparently being close to death. i couldnt even climb out of a wheelchair without help. every twelve hours after the second operation i had to have the bags drained, which was about a litre of bile still leaking from me.before this operation, i was a strong person that attended the gym five days a week, and now i needed help to get into a wheelchair as i didnt have the strength to walk. a couple of days later, they decided to insert a stent to divert the flow of bile away from the leak, to give it chance to heal. i was heavily sedated when i had this done and can remember bits of the operation. they took two of the drainage bags out of me, but left one of them in for a couple of days, just in case the stent didnt work. eventually the leak stopped, that was 8 weeks ago now and i am due to have the stent taken out tomorrow. i am dreading it because of what the doctor has put me though in the first place, and hoping that the stent has worked and the leak has healed. i was suppose to be off work for 2 weeks after getting my gallbladder taken out, i have been off work for 9 weeks now. it has scarred me mentally, physically and financially.

Hi, I'm so sorry to read what you went though & hope you have fully recovered. Following the stent removal were there any complications? I hope you say no because I have the same procedure in 2 days and I'm dreading it. :/
