I just don't think my review of Winged Migration, 2001, Jacquie Parrin, can do this movie justice. I find birds truly fascinating, and watching this documentary of different flocks migrating made me so aware of their habits...and how they intereact though their language and movements. The coreographers capture how a flock will dive almost within a second of one another into the water and then reappear. Their movements coordinated with the music is graceful, funny, and unique. It was beautiful. At times, I got rather board and the splendid feature of DVD is jumping to the next frame. I was very much impressed by the beauty of this film and how completely it reveals a life cycle.
It's been in my netflix queue for a while now. I should really push it up so i can watch it.
i enjoyed it, if there were slow periods. as a new yorker i was touched by geese flying down the east river and passing the wtc before reaching the statue of liberty. the shot on the seine was also great (and they passed a statue of liberty there as well).
check out the accompanying documentary about how the movie was made. hint: it'll bring fly away home to mind.
