Pre cum is a lubricant secreted from the penis prior to and during arousal and sex, and is not usually felt, as it oozes out, but as it is a liquid when it comes out it cools quickly and is noticed when it comes against your skin. Your bf should know he 'came' as he would normally get an orgasm at the same time, or at least feel an ejaculation of semen if he prematurely ejaculated which sometimes happens.
