My doctor diagnosed me with possible diagnosis of ALS. I have to wait for another two years, in case that weakness in my right hand spreads, which will indicate and prove the ALS. I worry about strange sensation in right hand, something like tingling-numb feeling. I mentioned that to my doctor, but he said that there is no need for worry, because this kind of feeling is not related to ALS. Is it or is it not related to ALS, because I have heard that there is connection between these two?

I have heard about making connection between tingling-numb feeling and ALS. I am a sister of a person who has an ALS and who is on ventilatory support for one year now. I must say that I understand your worry. In regard to that feeling I am obliged to offer you information about my experience. My sister never had this kind of tingling-numb feeling. Maybe that kind of sensation is an effect of something else. My neighbor had this kind of tingling-numb sensation when he had Arsenic poisoning. It can be one of the reasons, if you have treated wood in your house or around it. Maybe you should consider other alternatives of causes to this feeling.

My mom had ALS and she did not have numbness and tingling in her hands. She experienced cramping in her hands along with fascilations or twitching all over her body. 2 years is a long time for a diagnosis since ALS takes over the body so quickly. I would get another opinion - it can't hurt.

I've had several neurologists and 2 other doctors tell me that tingling of hands/feet is not symptomatic of ALS
