He is in his 5th year with Prog MS and has been taking the drug Ampryll.  I feel it has stabalized the disease, but no miracles of him getting better. Does anybody else take this drug or know somebody that does for MS and has it worked?

Thanks!

Hello,

There is no cure for MS.  Certain medications such Ampryll can help with symptoms.  Sometimes, MS will clear itself up and goes away although this is not all that common.  Each person can experience different symptoms with MS making it not only to diagnose but also say anything about progression.  Some individuals progress slowly and others progress rapidly.  There are a number of scientific studies going on at this time throughout the US and I believe there is a clinical trial underway.  It is now known that MS patients are deficient in vitamin D3.  Supplementation with vitamin D3 may help to some degree after the fact.  Another therapy is oxygen therapy where you breathe 100 percent pure oxygen and this helps to remove certain symptoms.    They put patients in hyperbaric chambers on a regular basis and most patients feel a lot better after this therapy.  Check in you area to see if you have a chamber.
