I had alcohol last night and it triggered a very bad flare. It affects people differently. Then again I hadn't drank in 2 years lol

I just got back my ana test and it was positive for homogeneous 1:160 patterns. I still haven't seen rheumatologist however it's all kind of making sense. At first I was convinced it's was a false positive. However I have butterfly rashes and I've had then since I was little and they always come out when I'm really sick or I've been in the sun and as I've gotten older it's gotten worse and it almost goes purple if I'm not careful to protect myself. And slowly I've eliminated every that's could get me sick even before getting this diagnosis. One of those things being beer and wine because they would make my face break out into a rash and I would get sores in my mouth when I would drink wine. Vodka and rum both make me super ill to the point that I cannot get up the following day and possibly the second day and there is a big chance that I will get an upper respiratory infection and I'm 32 needless to say I've been sick at least every month for the past 10 years.

I am undiagnosed and not sure what is wrong with me. But drinking even a little bit of alcohol causes my diaphragm to weaken for hours. I struggle to breathe and so can't sleep during this time.

That's not living it is existing. I do agree only with the stress. Stop stressing and wind down and relax. My advice. I have with or without alcohol never been out of a flare of some kind for at least 9 years. Sorry. Enjoy. Life is short and you're are a long time dead. Cate.

Drink in moderation. I will guarantee it was the medications that destroyed her organs. If she was under medical care, I am curious as to why she had a post mortem, andwho gave permission for it.

My Goodness. How much do you consume. The cause of my illness and feeling unwell apart from the disease are the drugs I have been put on to relieve it. I am going to do a trial of medicinal hemp oil - get rid of the medical chemicals, paid and get me back on track. Alcohol only reacts to the drugs you are taking, not the disease. Mind you eat a healthy diet though :-)

I agree. I never drank wine except if we had a dinner party or something like that. Seriously It did not give me any ill side effects at all (neither did the beer). Wine was more subtle (white only in my case). I just worry about methotrexate and alcohol they apparently don't mix. That's why I am shoving all pain relief and going to try natural medicinal hemp oil. Doesn't make you hig or anything else, but takes away the pain. I like the sound of that. CATE.

I wouldn't think so. Perhaps you can't handle alcohol - that is not a bad thing. Perhaps change and have a spritzer of wine. See how that goes. Alcohol isn't the be all and end all, but sometimes it really makes you feel great. Especially if you have Lupus. Cat.

Sorry to hear that. Can you actually explain what happened. I have had Lupus/Sjogrens/Renauds going on 15 years. Most likely I was born with it. What do you feel happens? It may have been happening all my life and didn't know. I do know when I get lupus meningitis I'm out for at leat 2 months. I only get nasty things which dibilitae me. My speech, walking and stability. I have cramps in my feet every night..I have fatigue and can harly lift the kettle because of the weakness in my hands. I am unable to change the bedsheets as I can't lift themattress so I just hang my sheets now LOL Cate.

I've known I've had Lupus for 5 years now (SLE) and find certain alcochols affect me...but I wonder also if the mixes are the problem? All good on sparkling wine that isn't too sweet, and all good on spirits with no mixes or soda water...but red wine out, many white wines out and coke as a mixer doesn't help, definitiely no beer. And I have lupus pretty severe from what I understand...mouth ulcers, night sweats, rosacea, raynards, and the aches and pains are constant. However a night with alcohol is always a sleepless night...but again think it's the sugar?
