Hi,
My 6 yr old daughter just had her tonsils removed on 10/23. She did well post op...had her adenoids removed 3 yrs ago w/ sinus surgery. The only problem is this horribly enlarged uvula that hangs down into her throat. We weren't made aware that this would happen. How long til it returns to it's normal size....
Thanks

Hi there, I thik that it should return to its regular size within a month so I think that's what you should look forward to. Can you let us know how her recovery goes? Thanks!

Hi there,
Y9ou have to understand that swelling of an uvula after tonsillectomy is not that rare and it happens to many people. Your child is very young and to have all these surgeries is very unfortunate. The process of uvula returning to normal is really different for every person. It depends on few things like pain and the amount of swelling. If the swelling is not so severe the pain could last up to seven days in children so it the uvula should be back to normal after this period. But if the swelling is less severe this might take up to five days. However yawning and sneezing are not very good for recovery and can make things more complicated.
