Recently I was experiencing pain in my right testicle that was also swollen. I went to my doctor and he told me that I have epididymitis. Even though he told me that this does not mean cancer, I am still worried. Can you tell me more about epididymitis?

Epididymitis is an inflammation of the epididymis and often the testicle. It is not always accompanied by a urinary tract infection. However, sometimes it requires months of antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs to control the pain. It is difficult to give advice without first examining you but it is good that you went to your doctor. This way, your condition is under control and monitored by a doctor. Unfortunately, testicular cancer is often first diagnosed as epididymitis. The reason for this is due to their similar symptoms of scrotal swelling and sensation of fullness. It is normal that you are worried and thinking that something could go wrong. However, if your doctor had told you that it is epididymitis, then you will just have to believe him. If you go on with the worries I advise you to visit your doctor and ask for some additional tests. I am sure that everything will be ok.
