I am residing with a friend who has an alcohol problem. He claims to have the problems because "his" father was an alcoholic. (He did not live with his father from the age of 10 to adulthood!) Problem is now he is drinking 2 - 3 strong rum drinks daily between 5pm to 2 am. He complains of his side twitching (not painfully) throughout the night, but enough to keep him awake or wake him through the night. (Rarely) any twitching from 9 am till he starts drinking. Me, never having lived with an alcoholic.... is this time for him to seek help or do I let it drag on. javascript:emoticon('')

If you want to help him out, then don’t let him drag the thing too much. It must be known to you that this alcohol addiction is very harmful and can even ruin one’s life. So tell your friend to stop that. You mentioned that your friend says it’s because his father was an alcoholic that he has become one…right? It’s true that addiction has a major hereditary connection. But it’s not true in all cases. So, tell your friend to stop justifying his acts and make him realize that he needs to get rid of this addiction as soon as he can. And after that, if needed, take him for rehabilitation. Hope this will do some help to you.
