Took my seizure pills this morning then tried to go back to sleep and felt like the pills got stuck in throat, hurt on side of throat and burned in chest. It's been a few hours and have tried almost everything on this post but I just made some ginger tea and GARGLED it and let it sit in back of mouth before swallowing a few times and that seemed to do the trick or at least made it a lot better!!!

I'm 17 (female) ... I was taking Doxycycline for acne from atleast a week. I am feeling the same heartburn and chest pains, even having sore throat and pain swallowing. It's been 5 days now the pain wouldn't go. Well, I stopped consuming Doxycycline.

How to get pill to go down that feels like stuck in chest

I've been taking Doxicycline twice daily for a few months without any issues. Usually take my morning dose with water only. Yesterday morning, I'd breakfast of biscuits and took my tablets (doxy, and two vitamin C caplets). I started to feel a scratchy lump in my throat, and decided to lie down. The sensation worsened when I lay down, but I managed to fall asleep. On waking up, sensation was still there. I was constantly burping, loudly. I ate foods that could be swallowed without chewing, drank hot tea (which made it burn more), drank water with my head tilted back, even drank diluted apple cider vinegar, all without benefit. I did think of drinking something fizzy. It seemed like burping was bringing the pill up, then it'd slide back down again. The lump never felt like it was in the same place. I even thought I felt it at the entrance of my throat, but gagging didn't work, and I wasn't in the mood to vomit my lunch. I went on to take my night medicines (doxy and multivitamin), and this morning again, my usual medicines. Today, the lump feels lower in my throat, at the level of my chest, whereas yesterday it felt like it was in my neck.

I'm going to try a fizzy drink. And maybe an antacid (homemade or store bought). Or honey, or peanut butter.

Happening to me and I'm not on an antibiotic but I do have an Esophageal Hiatal Hernia and an ulcer in my stomach I have and had the feelings you all express. It's quiet possible all of you had a reaction but the odds of ALL of you suffering the exact same affliction are slim to none so I suggest that some of you who are experiencing a dull ache in the sternum to the lower part of the threat along with the feeling of a bubble about to burst between my breast. What happens is the flap between the esophagus n the stomach gets eaten away by acid reflux n heartburn allowing a portion of the stomach to protrude into the chest cavity past the diaphragm. I often notice it resembles the feeling of being hungry. It's very dangerous if it becomes twisted see a doctor.

I was having the exact same symptoms after taking Clindamycin! The heart burn and nausea! I tested it out to see what was helping and it turns out the only thing that prevented these symptoms was when I would eat literally DIRECTLY after taking them. As soon as I swallowed the last one, I would eat something, even just veggies and it prevented these terrible side effects. Hope this can help someone else out!

Having the same problem. Only with Fluxotine. Can't the outer capsule be changed so as not to get stuck? Doesn't happen everytime.
