About three days ago I took my B-12 super complex with my regular meds. There wasn't a problem until I bent over to pick up my stuff for work...OMG I felt like I had been hit in the chest with a bag of nickels. Every time I moved my chest hurt. It got so bad I had trouble talking. I could swallow, breathe, eat, and drink but it hurt everytime I moved or coughed. Spent my whole weekend laying down in pain.

While checking these blogs I tried absolutely everything except poking my finger down my throat...gross. Nothing helped.

Tonight I discovered that eating chocolate icing straight from the little canister soothed my chest pain and was easy to swallow (also yummy). About an hour ago, the pain subsided it is still there but not as intense...wowow.

I hope this helps anyone who is having this weird problem.

This just happened to me. At first I drank a lot of water to get the pill/s to dissolve. When that didn't work I tried and tried really hard to throw up. With my finger down my throat and finally I threw up the piils. I saw they both got stuck together somehow in my throat and that was the pain I was feeling. Now with them out, no more pain.

I have been on Doxy for 6 months and nothing like this has ever happened. I took 2 pills late last night with just a handful of water and went right to bed. All thru the night I kept feeling like something was stuck in my chest, like I swallowed an ice cube or soemthing. This morning it's still bad, it does not hurt exactly just uncomfortable. I have tried coffee and tons of water and it's not moving. Tums is next on my list.

out of curiosity (since I'm on Doxy and having the same issues - feels like something in my throat, hard to eat or drink or even swallow and now can pin point an exact "spot" in my back that hurts in correlation), what do you do for it? does it just go away? how long does it seem to last? mine's been here for about a week now. or do I need a doctor to do something about it?

thanks!

Just thought I'd put my 2 cents in here. I'm currently on Doxy and have that exact same feeling after missing 2 days of it. I've been back on it for about 2 weeks after missing those 2 days and I have that exact same pain in my esophagus.

So thankful to read this and find out that it's the Doxy causing it! Stopping right away.

I found this post after fighting with alot of paranoia. The same thing has happened to me. i was taking doxy, was good for about 3 days, then one night i took one, went to bed. could not sleep the whole night, pissed me and my prego girlfriend off. its about a week later and its still not getting better. my doctor said it could be acid reflex. but after reading looking up what doxy is, and what it is made off, i wanted to vommit and my chest started hurting as if to say " yeah thats right..dont take this stuff". lets just say it is not a good combo of chems. if takin before sleep, then meds sit in your esophagus and boil it. leading to a common case of pill induced esophagitis. my doc gave me some dexilant to keep my acids down. my diet has been anything soft and preferably cold. and tea...lots o tea. buuuuuuut it stays with a down side. u gotta sit through the pain. cuz the pain is not from food slidding down your tube, its from your tube flexing and manipulating itself in order to get the food down. so there is no way your gunna avoid much pain. but it seems the dexilant does bring on alot of those
'good' burps, ya know/ when ya get the pain, then ya wanna burp and it wont come up...then you do, and your like awwwwwww yeeeesssss!

Hi, Dont know if you found out the solution to your problem. I once had this same obnoxious feeling. It hurt so bad I thought I had pneumonia. My boyfriend at the time, rushed me to the emergency room STAT! Come to find out, a pill had yet to dissolve and was stuck to the lining of my esophagus which cause major inflammation and irritation. Even breathing hurt! The Dr. gave me some nasty liquid that was a non-irritant that quickened the dissolving process of the pill. (It couldn’t dissolve because it hadn’t reached the acidic fluids in my belly yet).. Hope this helps! Go the ER!!

wow. I thought i may have been the only one getting this stupid esophagus problem. I couldnt eat for a week one time and even lost weight because it hurt so much. Went to the hospital and they had no idea what was wrong with me. Got sent for a scope and they thought i had an esophigial spasm. But from the sounds of it, I am also on Doxycycline and the other night when i took it (without water...) and when to bed thats when all my problems started.

Hello Buddy,
May This Helps!!

That type of Problem had caused due to the side effect of Antibiotics. It feels like antibiotics got struck in the lower throat and pain occurs when eating drinking and swallowing even saliva. it is recommended that plenty of water should be taken after having antibiotics and not lay down or sleep for 30-40 minutes after taking the antibiotics. It also irritates more when we sleep.

Treatments ....May this Helps
Drink Plenty of Water ( Warm water would be better).
if possible mix some honey with warm water and Drink.
Do not lay down or sleep as you can.
Do not eat oily, stale, and more salty food.
do not force your throat by having heavy meals.
You can consult to your Doctor.

Thank you.
