Feels like something is stuck in my lower esophagus

Please get yourself tested for achalasia. I had this problem for 5 years and didn't know about it till it reached an advanced stage. Surgery is the only solution.

Oh thank you for posting that! I go see a new doc soon and I will bring the information with me. The page I searched for it said arm pain could be another symptom and I have been having arm pain too.

I went to the ER thinking I had swallowed a fish bone about 8 months ago, they did not find anything, i have also suffered from gerd or acid reflux for what seems like an eternity and have been on medication for that for a long time, my doctors even put me on muscle relaxers saying that my esophagus is having spasms from stress and they also put me on meds for anxiety and depression.  Nothing has made whatever this is in my very low esophagus go away.  in the beginning the sensation would come and go, but now I have been suffering with this for 3 months straight.  Eating anything can sometimes make it feel worse or larger, swallowing a pill makes it worse, and when I have a lot of sinus drainage it feels larger, it does not really hurt it sometimes gives me an ache as if I swallowed a large pill and it got stuck, but never any real pain, maybe a lot of pressure at times but never pain-the spot that bothers me is in my lower esophagus or I say at the bottom of it where your collar bones come together-nothing relieves this for me, I have tried just eating lumps of bread thinking that it would push whatever it is down, but no resolve.  I had an endoscopy done a couple of months ago and was told that I have Barrett's Esophagus which is precancerous cells, but I was told that nothing with that should cause the sensation that I have and was also told that it was throat spasms-going back to doctor for this tomorrow, because I am getting tired of living with this problem and want answers.

I've been diagnosed with GERD and have had the scope procedure done twice now along with a biopsy, which thank heavens, came back negative , but the other day when I took my pain pills and muscle relaxer pills, they got stuck in my throat , which hurt so much the whole night, and it's been like that ever since. I may call my dr and see why the pain isnt going away. It burns, feels like something stuck in my chest, a lump and very uncomfortable. I take 6 scripts a day because of a neck injury from a previous car accident. Anyway, if there is something i can do to make the pain go away in my throat, pls let me know. I already take protonix, which doesnt seem to help anyway. Any advice would be appreciated.

i  have that same thing right now but with food. i swalloed a chip then i swallowed naturally with saliva and it hurt like heck. i finally got it down my throat 5 minutes later by just growling or grunting relly loud. THe food was stuck in my esophagus or less than a minute and then after it fell, i just had sharp pains for about 4 minutes.

I don't know if my pain was caused by swallowing a pill because I do take pills but last night my upper chest started hurting like its swollen or something and I don't know if it's worth going to the doctor.

STOP TAKING THE DOXYXYCLINE!!!! IF your allergic to any penisilun, type medicine. Your allergic to that medicine! I'm not allergic to penisilun, but I am allergic to amoxyxyciline. Tell YOUR DOCTOR and have him test you!

Ditto all the above while on Bactrim. Mine started with a stuck pill one evening, thought I cleared it with a half banana and went to bed. The big one came two days later about 2 hours after the morning dose. I used all the above, BUT added Pepto Bismol (sp?) It seemed to quench the initial FIRE from about an 8 down to 3. My phone consult with doc agreed with all the above plus the Pepto.

Ice Cream and dairy products easily cause acid reflux....

Hi. Im going through this same thing. How long did it take to heal? Did it heal naturally?

My esophagus got pills stuck in it a week ago. I guess they burned a hole in my esophogus. It feels low like its in my chest. Every time I take a hot shower, my chest burns in the center so bad, the first time I thought it was a heart attack and went to the hospital but the tests all said my heart was fine. After I got home and showered, it happened AGAIN> I stayed home and gutted it out. It took an hour and 45 mintes before it died down to a bearable pain.  So I am now suspecting it is acid related but what does taking a hot shower have to do with it ? Now I will NOT take a hot shower. Only cold. I am using mylanta to soothe it, and eating small bland meals like oatmeal and cream of rice, hoping it will heal.  It is situated right where my heart is but impossible to tell if its coming from my heart or my esophogus. I am not burping up anything and it doesn't hurt anywhere else but that one spot right in the center of my chest. The pain when it hits, is pannic- inducing. Sipping cold water, and breathing cold room air seems to help, and using the Mylanta or anti acid products. I don't know. I am just hoping it heals soon. It makes me scared to even eat for fear its gonna come back.     Kim

In 2009 , I had this feeling that I had something stuck in my throat, describe it like a olive seed when I swallow feel it goes down and then comes back to the throat. did barium swallow, dr put me on vaprim 5 mg took it for a week but Iwas losing it feeling emotional, and getting angry,upet etc.

2011 things came back again feeling is different, not the olive seed feeling went to another doctor, put me on zorton, and also mentioned about the valprim as to start again, this doctor id a gastrocopy, everything was normal including the Hpylori as they did a biopsy

chest feels funnyconstant need to swallow and clear throat, when eating swallowing is no problem but I start to get a iriitant cough on an off, loss of appetite, done have dinner in the night as I have lunch at 1-2 in arvo, most times no brekky feel ful at night timeso ardly eat at night, lunch is ok no pain when swalloing feel like I need to clear throat a luthings were clear, had gastrscopy and results clear but I took zorton previous day before I went for the appointment, as it was a fasting test said everything was clear, including H pylori however had a sinus problem and things got worse from there dictor put me on doxy for 4 weeks, constantly need to clear thorat and swallow, sometimes a heay feeling in throatupper chest area, have clicking noise in mouth right hand side and burp a bit and sometimes had to burtp, sometimes feel like it is phlemy and throat could be yuck as I get a bit of phlegm in throat too, had Post nasal drip but cant feel it inow. Dont know wjat to do or if I should try antoher doctor as the docotro I go to is not that helpful put it on PND , sometimes I feel it a lot other times not as bad, but still there, I am not the person I used to be I am now very glump I used to be happy go lucky but lost it all. Dont feel much of the pND took two mylantas, sometimes get a burning sensation in stomasch if I have eaten someting spicy

Any advise taking Vitamin D and just started on centrum, fish oil 1000mg before I go to bed want to if any oof you have this symptom, i had polyps, PND bt at the moment that has subsides, But the feeling is still there any advise ow to get over this
