Hello Amit,

First off a boil is an infection of the hair follicles and nearby tissue.  Boils are very common and most of the time they are caused by Staphylococcus aureus which is a bacterium commonly found on the skin.  Nevertheless, boils can be caused by other bacterium as well.  Although boils can form anywhere on the body, they quite often are found on the neck, face, armpit, thighs and buttocks.  They often begin with a sore, pinkish, swollen area on the skin.  With time they begin to fill like cysts that are fluid filled.  As the boils bring about pain they fill with dead tissue and pus.  If you can, see if you can open the boil and allow it to drain.  However, once you do you need to keep any towels/ face cloths etc away from other people to prevent spread of the infection.  Wash the area with anitbacterial soap and you can use some 70 percent alcohol  which also kills bacgeria.  The alcohol will also dry up the lesion.  Your fever may be related to a bacterial infection or not.  Fever is a common symptom know to many diseases.
