I had a tvt procedure in 2009. The procedure was routine  per the doctor.  I was home by noon. I was given percocet for the pain- not bad but when I still had pain of a different kind a week later, I went to my doctor and he gave me a note to stay out of work for a month, take Advil and lie down as much as possible. What? And, I was still leaking.   A month later, still in pain, I inquired of him if fibromyalgia and its over activity of nerve endings could be the culprit. (I have had fibro for 20 years and it has been a mild form) He said he had no way of knowing- some people take longer to heal, etc. In the meantime with every cough or sneeze, things kept getting worse as far as leakage.

One year later, the pain had subsided to mild and he suggested the silicone injection that supposedly keeps things in place. I left his office never to return . Two gynocologists said that the device was in place where it should be .  I just gave up because things were only 10% better than before the procedure. I recently found a urogynecologist and he said the  chances the severe pain of long duration  were 50% it was the fibro and 50% the surgeon had knicked a blood vessel and that became inflamed and took a long time to heal.  Upon exam, he said the sling was not tight enough, and feels he can help me  with another sling next to the origional one. This doctor has a wonderful reputation and high success rate.

Can anyone who has fibromyalgia and has had some sort of procedure of this sort or even regular surgery, let me know if they had extreme or extra long-lasting pain?

Hi there, I don't have fibro but I do have an autoimmune disease and 4 weeks ago underwent major surgery (bunion repair that was quite extensive).  I also have had a hysterectomy last year.  With last years surgery I found that the pain went away quick but it took me longer to heal than other ladies had said - I also got my first bladder infections with this procedure as well.  With this surgery that I had recently I am finding that I still have pain that is getting less painful but still have to take pain killers, this is due to the disease.

I know it's not coming from the right person but I still hope that I have helped a bit?  Good luck
