we are trying to find out if someone had a similar operation as my husband, who was in an accident 9 years ago and had a fusion
6,7,8 (spine) but are having severe problems. Started with extreme sensitivity in arm, shoulder and hand. My hair cannot touch there
and is extremely temperature sensitive. We have had numerous scans etc as the arm-use started deteriorating. They have now operated
on shoulder, but 2,5 months later, nothing has improved and his whole left side is in pain - arm, lower back, hip and even his testicles.
We just want to determine if these are symptoms from the accident/back-op or is it due to something totally different, because
for the past 3 years nobody can give us answers. Apart from his normal horrible pain that existed after the operation, they are increasing
and adding new ones. His right leg is lame and he walks from his hip, with a definite limp. My opinion is that his whole body posture
and the way he walks(for the past 9 years is now causing a nerve to pinch because the body shape is actually changing (body more bent)

Ugh! I wish I had some encouraging words for you. I've not had that specific surgery, but a different one that in my opinion was the worst decision I've ever made.

Has your husband been doing physical therapy? What meds is he taking?

He has tried quite a lot of different kinds of medication - lyrica, bio-bacloven, etc, but alas the positive results are so minimal if none and
the side effect are as long as your arms and it does affect him. He has been to numerous chiropractors, physiotherapists etc. As he stated
again this morning when someone asked him: "I have tried everything that is legal" He had no option but to have the operation as he was
in an accident and was paralysed for 3 months and they just tried to make sure he is not in a wheelchair. The pain from the accident and
initial operation he says he can live with although it is also terrible, but the recent problems are more than I think his body and mind can
handle in the long run. The worst is that they do not know what causes this. He has been to the best neurologists and specialists and they
have taken numerous scans etc. So we think it has to do with the fluid in the spinal collumn pinching the nerves or his "skew" way of walking
etc that caused this. I cannot bear seeing him like this as he does not complain, but you can see the pain in his eyes and there is nothing
that helps. We are just trying to find people that had the similar operation to compare notes to see if they are having the same problems
now after a few years of having the operation or if maybe this is due to something totally different and we are all just assuming it must
be from this injury.
