I just had my gall bladder removed and the cost is approximately 3,000 US dollars. My insurance covered 90% of it.

Mine cost somewhat over $3,000. Insurance covered most leaving my mom with a small fee of $15. I'm not sure how much the anestesia (sp?) cost. I didn't see that bill, or it hasn't arrived.

I didn't have to stay over night or anything, though.

i guess it depends on where you live ... i live in New Zealand and the surgery cost $7,100 NZD ($5,450 USD) back in September. In over night as well. Fully paid by health insurance of which I get an average salary, the company i work for pays my health insurance cover for me, nil excess.

recovery took less time that I had been told was told two weeks (recovered in 7), was sorer in my shoulders than in my gallbladder area because of the gases they pump you with to perform the surgery. the main reason i recovered fast was because I got off my backside the very next day and went for long walks with my husband... a short walk for me would be 5KM (3.1 miles) round trip and the next day after this over 10KM. I was told that walking would make you recover faster so i walked around 100KM in 7 days and lost 1 inch off the top of my thighs.... i was feeling better after my surgery than what i was when i though i felt normal before my surgery (i felt sluggish).... to date I have lost 17 KGs (37lbs) i'm now 189 lbs and 5'9" (female).
