It might not be your case but who knows so I will tell you. Few years ago I started having very sharp, stubbing pain on the left side of the abdomen. It felt like intestines. I could not sleep that night and at the end the pain persisted no matter if I sat, or walked or lied down. It also felt almost as low as the bottom of abdomen (almost where the leg starts) I felt like going pee but nothing was coming out. Pain very strong so finally I went to the emergency. They made a CAT scan and discovered a small kidney stone. I learned later that kidney stone pain might be felt in any part of the abdomen or the back and is very difficult to connect to the cause because it even changes positions. This might help somebody who will have kidney stones first time. It is pretty scary because the pain is very sharp and you do not know what is going on. Beside if it is on the right side you might be afraid it is appendix or liver.

I recently went thru this pain. They put a stitch to the left side of your belly button during surgery. Thats the pain your feeling. The pulling of the stitch when you move different positions, going from standing to sitting or sitting to standing. I still feel the pain and it has been three months since surgery. Check back in with the dr who performed the surgery if the pain is too intense. You could have a hurnia coming or infection. Its normal to have a dull ache for up to 6 months. Hope this helps.

You're pancreas is located directly to the left of your stomach. The surgeon told me about this when I got pancreatitis from my gallbladder surgery. This problem can easily be detected with a blood test.

Hey guys! I've had some similar pain next to, and around my belly button, mostly where my belly button is harder since surgery. Chances are, y'all are having pain for the same reason I am. Scar tissue. Scar tissue is exactly what it sounds like. The tissue that forms a scar. Rather inside, or outside the body. I've also had other pains, mostly dull, on my lower left side and some on my right, that stretches around to my back. I drink apple cider vinegar to help. I know it sounds EXTREMELY gross, but it works, and it's not actually that bad! Mix 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in the mother (MAKE SURE it's In the mother. It's more consecrated and a lot fresher than just regualr apple cider vinegar. It will look kind of cloudy, whereas the regular stuff is more transparent.) mix that with about 8 ounces (or more if you still can't stand the taste of the vinegar) of 100% Apple juice (I buy Motts 100% Apple juice. I think it's called "Motts for Tots") it tastes like just plain Apple juice, except with a little wang. Unless you have a really strong stomach, I don't suggest just chugging straight vinegar. Trust me. It's not a good idea. Drink that every day and I promise, after about the first week, you'll start feeling GRRRRRRREAT! Just a warning. Your sinuses will probably drain for the first few days, but after you get over that you will feel amazing. It not only helps with the pain from your gallbladder, it also has a boot load of other benefits. If you want some more info on the benefits of it just google "the benefits of Apple cider vinegar" or something like that. Thanks! I hope I helped at least one of y'all with this info!

I too had laparoscopic cjolecystectomy a pnth ago Now, the left side of my belly button doesn't hurt so much, as it bulges outward, and the right side looks perfectly normal. It looks like the muscles tighten obtuse left abdomen, it doesn't make sense. But it's very obvious! Please, if I should worry like maybe it's a hernia, can somebody please let me know if they have this weird body change?

I had gall bladder out a year ago this April and have the same pain on left side. Been complaining about this to surgeon, he did a CT scan and I have a hernia above belly button which I was told happened from an emergency appendix surgery I had in 2012. Been suffering with left side pain on and off for a year now but surgeon doesn't know why, he says its not the hernia causing the pain.. Seeing a new surgeon and hoping he has answers for me. I know I need the hernia operation but I don't think its the cause of the pain on left side. I think it has to do with intestines since I'm also having a problem with bowel movements, sometimes I go 4 times a day and when I don't have a movement in a day I have severe pain during the night which is unbearable. The pain actually starts on left side moving to belly button area and then I feel like I have indigestion and break out in cold sweats. If I get an answer of what this might be I will share the results. I wish you all luck in the meantime!

Thank you. I was thinking something similar to this. I could tell it was something related to the surgery itself as it is more of a muscular/pulling pain, not inside my abdomen itself. I am three months post-op and it comes and goes.
