Bump. Everything smells burnt to me the night after I drink even tho nothing actually has that smell cause I've asked others. I don't get hangovers but the night after drinking this happens to me... where everything smells burnt kind of bitter smell. Everything tastes like that too. Sometimes it will last up to 4 days after drinking. I know mine isn't anywhere near as bad as yalls because mine only occurs from drinking but I was just searching for it and thought I'd try to liven up the thread again

Same thing here, just started 10 days ago. Appeared to have cold a cold, runny nose watery eyes. Not alergic to anything I'm aware of. Smoker for too many years & been Vaping on off fit a few months. But it's wicked strong coffe smell, bitter & burnt. Not excited too see so many with it for years !! Not encouraging at all.

Hi, I have been looking at this, as I have had the same for past few weeks, I was also thinking coffee as it is a similar smell, but I also have a cracked tooth which I found just before the smell started, hmmm!

I have had this problem a couple of weeks, I was attributing to coffee as I have been drinking a lot lately, but I also have a cracked tooth which I noticed just before the smell started, interesting!

Not sure if I have the exact same issues I'm 47, always get my flu shots as I work with children. Approximately a year ago (summer July)I got really sick, sinus infection, upper respiratory infection, double ear infection...the Dr. said it almost walking pneumonia. I lost about 30 pounds because everything had a "sinus drainage" after taste. I did get better with a z-pack, but I seem to get a lot of allergy sinus drainage at night now, but it's over a year and and coffee tastes horrible...as a former coffee addict This stinks for me. I find myself chewing a lot of cinnamon gum to get rid of the lingering come and go aftertaste or drinking strong spicy Chai tea, which before I didn't like.

I have something that sounds like what you have.

Starbucks IS the reason.

I can t open youtube .. my connection is not strong enough . But you can search a video taken by a man visiting a place where starbucks prepare their coffee beans.
I have to warn you it will disgust you. But you have to watch it and share it to help people avoid that coffee.

(In case you can t find the video , it shows how they make an animal -that looked like a skunk- eat the beans and when the beans NATURALLY leave its body after digestion they wash the beans put them out to dry to use them for coffee) i m sorry i know it s gross BUT it is true.
I hope you ll find the video and share it

Btw, i have NOT walked into starbucks for months now!!!!
If they believe a coffee bean will taste better when it travels in animal intestines THEN I I BELIEVE THEY ARE SICK!! MENTALLY SICK!!

Me too, my burning coffee taste and smell is exacerbated by brushing my teeth. I have good days and bad days that don't seem to follow any pattern. I've cut back on coffee and that sometimes helps but sometimes the bad taste and smell are there with no coffee. It's horrible, nothing makes it go away.Sometimes mouthwash or drinking milk helps.

Me too, cinnamon gum does seem to help. I'll try the Chai tea which I also don't like but I have been craving a lot of cinnamon since this started a few months ago.

I've been struggling with this for a few months now and it's driving me crazy. Did it ever go away for you or were you ever diagnosed?

Solved. I owe it to the people on the web to share what worked for me. After taking 300mg of St John's Wort and 1000mg of oderless garlic for 5 days, it is gone. I searched high and low for months and found a post from someone else who said this worked for them, so I tried it. It worked. I was smelling gas, metallic smell, sewage or burnt odors. Triggers were popcorn, dish soap, cucumber, Listerine or anything with alcohol like hand sanitizer, sour dough bread etc. Good Luck!

Me again. It has now been over two weeks with no smell. A few days ago, popcorn and coffee triggered the odor, but only for a minute. The last few days, there has been absolutely nothing. I AM FREE AGAIN! I hope this helps others who are suffering from this. I learned that there is actually nothing in your nose causing this, so rinses will not work. This problem is neurological and is related to your olfactory sensory giving false signals to your brain. This was caused by some sort of trauma to the olfactory sensors. For me, I had a huge booger like thing shaped like a slug that was way up in my sinuses. I blew extremely hard for a few hours and was finally able to pull it out. I believe this may have caused damage. What you are smelling is simply your brain telling you it is something else. Like coffee smelling the same as popcorn, burnt. These are hallucinations and the diagnosis is "Phantosmia" - Phantom Smells. Good luck to you, this will be my last post.

Hi all hopefully you will see this, but I've had the same thing, started several years back and come to find out what it actually was is acid reflux. Try some tums or something like that and see if it helps.

The nose blowing and raising voice parts are the most accurate to me. I've been trying to mentally note what affects it, to no avail, and for remedies, to literally no avail. I've tried steam, neti pots, salt water gargle, apple cider vinegar, etc. I would describe it as a distortion to the bitter taste buds in the back of my tongue, probably from post nasal drip is my guess. I've been using a neti pot almost daily now about two weeks. It seems helpful, and certainly clears you up, but still the problem can arise what seems like randomly. I don't smoke and love coffee and the single MOST affected taste/smell i have when it happens, is to coffee. It's like a cruel punishment.
