I had hammertoe surgery in October 2010 on both of my baby toes. I never had pins inserted (thank god) but since then my world has been turned upside down. My pain has gotten progressively so severe that it is affecting EVERY single part of my life. I have a 24/7 severe throbbing pain in the area of the insicions and it is real deep in my toes. It feels like someone is taking something rough and grinding it inside my bone. Even after I sleep and am off my feet for 8 hours it is still there. The second I wake up I feel it and the second I fall asleep I feel it. I have tried hot and cold baths, physical therapy, cortizone shots, got new X-Rays and have seen several doctors who have not given me the time of day. I know I need to keep looking into more doctors, but am scared that I will keep getting the same response. They are saying they dont know why I have such severe pain and send me on my way. GOD SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!!!! I am going to look into a new doc this week and see if an MRI would answer any more questions, but just was wondering if anyone else has this kind of pain after hammertoe surgery and if so, what is this condition called and what did you do to heal it? Any and all suggestions welcome. I am sooooo desperate after more then 2 years of constant pain. Thank you:'(

PLZHELP, I hope you find someone who can give you the answer you're looking for. What I do know is that doctors usually like to recommend surgery; usually podiatrists recommend surgery as a last resort and are better at dealing with feet problems. So I would recommend looking for a podiatrist to help with your hammertoe dilemma.
