It's so encouraging to discover I'm not alone. In perfect health, I have suffered tingling pains in my fingers whilst urinating if I've had to hold it when out and about and no toilet handy. I've asked several doctors over the years, and they all act as if I'm imagining it. I'm 70 years old now and after thirty years (at least), I still have this unexplained symptom. I'm very glad that I'm not alone in this, and I'll copy this web page and take it to my doctor the next time I visit.

I have pain in my arms, hands and fingers when I urinate. I recently had a cat scan and found 3 growths on my right kidney, one on my left kidney. I also have hep c which affects frequency. The pain is worse if I don’t drink water during the day.

I have the pain in my finger joints usually the ends but it can be any part of my fingers, more commonly on my left hand though I haven't thought too much about that until now. The pain stops as soon as I go, it feels exactly like arthritis.

I have recently been diagnosed with Fybromyalgia. This has come as quite a relief for me as I've had so many various ailments that I was feeling like a hypochondriac.
For a long time now I have had pains shooting down my hands when I need to pee. I'm wondering now if it's another symptom of the Fybro. I've been prescribed low doses of nerve blockers. So I'm hoping that helps. You're definitely not alone.

I'm 33, have pain/tingling in my left fingers most of the time but comes and goes since I had surgery for a herniated disc in my neck. It is a step up from feeling like my left hand was in a fire before hand. It gets it gets significantly worse whenever I have to go to the bathroom. People look at me like I'm crazy when I say this.

I have had this same problem too for many years. I'm 61 and had a partial hysterectomy with rectocele and cystocrle repair done 20 years ago. I notice this pain more if I hold urine too long and have had it get worse immediately after my chiropractor manipulated me. I called him up and got back in the same day and he did another manipulation. He had stated that some nerves are associated with other areas of the body. I have not studied reflexology but do believe that there is an association with my nerve pain from my osteoarthritis and the urinary system. I am AMAZED to read that ANY doctor would not be aware of this connection as it seems to me quite common just from reading these responses.

I have the same thing with the pain in hands and fingers. It will take you to your knees. Everyone including "doctors" say well that is strange.

All I get from doctors "is that is strange" Why don't they check it out on here and see how many people have the same problem.

Hi, I too feel this electrical charge/pain shimmer through my palms when I need to urinate. I have not had UTI's or any other dx concerning this pain. I have, in the past, had multiple major surgeries d/t develop[ping a rare aggressive form of RA and Lupus, but since I have been in remission 5 years ago is when it started. I too thought, "What is going on with me? How odd!" Then my sister had me Google my sx and I found multiple testimonies like this. We aren't alone.", is a nice feeling.

I thought the pain I had along with spasms upon urinating had to be tied somehow to a specific nerve route to the hands. I had what I thought was a UTI and had a urine test. Although it took me 10 days to get the results I finished my cipro (prescribed by doctor via the phone) which cleared it up BUT my doctor said I had had NO bladder infection (dark urine, blood spots!). The test show I had small crystals in my urine. (I had a previous kidney stone 10 years ago). I still think I had an UTI but maybe it was the passing of stones which caused the pain. The doctor just looked at me and didn't comment when I said I had pain spasms in my hands. Maybe more than one of us here pass small stones without realizing it

When I have this problem I am usually having an IC flare up. Interstitial cystitis, my urogynecologist believes me. Look up IC you may have some of the other symptoms.

I do this when I am dehydrated! I have to drink lots of water to “catch up” , and it takes days for it to go away.. but it goes away once I’m hydrated. My left arm tingles serverly and it makes me cringe it hurts so bad. Then it quits. As someone said.. as my urethra spasms, so does my left arm.

Having read all these comments re UTI's and pain in hands on urinating. I too suffer from these symptoms, mentioned to my GP , who smiles at me and says," I've never heard such codswallop!!! So Ladies, you're not on your own, hopefully, somebody with a medical background, will look into this and get some answers, if not solutions.
