I also get pain down arm to fingerstips. Doctor says never heard of it but it happens without fail. Why? This started happening years ago.

I also thought I was crazy, but I experience the same pain when I have a UTI. When I get the pain at the end of urinating, its accompanied by shooting arm pains in both arms and once im finished it goes away. I have Lupus and RA but I'm only 32 so when I mention this to the doctors they just say uh huh and move on like theres no way its related.

OMG!!! I thought I was the ONLY one!! I'm neither 68 nor have had by-pass surgery. I am female. This started when I was in puberty!!! Doctor's tilt their heads, like a dog does when he's perplexed, anytime I have/had mentioned these sensations in my hands and, now, my upper extremities! I am now 61 yrs. old and STILL have not found neither answers or, relief!! I now have a Uro/Gyn doctor and still have found nothing out. This is torture; especially as I'm older and urination frequency is part of my everyday life. I would welcome ANY ideas!!!

Thank you dottie bar! This is the first time that I've EVER even heard that a doctor had an explanation or a possibility of an explanation!! I will pass this on to my Uro/Gyn. I'm 61 yrs. and have been experiencing this sensation, not only in my hands but, in my upper extremities, since puberty. It always and only occurs with an urgency to urinate. By the way, this sensation starts in the urethra and, includes the upper extremities.

I had my cancerous prostate gland removed almost two years ago, and experience sore fingers, when I have an urgent need to urinate - or a 'drop everything and run moment', which I am sure some of you are familiar with. I go along with the 'referred pain' theory, but will ask questions, when I next see my consultant.

I am a 57 year old male with some of these exact symptoms. It started about 5 or 6 years ago. Aching pain in my hands and fingers while urinating but the subsiding after about 10-15 seconds of finishing. Having many incurable problems I thought this might be an "ah-ha" moment for my old GP so I told him about it. He seemed to think I was making it up and had never heard of such a thing. I had thought maybe....finally something he could fix. Wrong! He retired and I mentioned it to my new GP whom had once been the head of surgery at the hospital I have worked at for the last 18 years. Nope, never heard of it either....nor my rheumatologist. I wondered of something to do with too much urea in my blood but recently have seen articles on UTI that point to causing this. As a man they are less common and yet I had a UTI recently. Also like others it is worse if I have been holding it in too long. Has anyone out there found any helpful suggestions to jelp deal with this? Although brief.....quite uncomfortable and momentarily debilitating

Wow! So glad to find out that I am not the only one having this issue. My pain started after I had neck surgery in 2003. When I went back for a followup and told my surgeon what was going on he told me it had nothing to do with the surgery and that was that. I mostly get the pain when I have a BM but have gotten the pain while urinating. I never paid much attention to whether it happens if I try to wait before going. But I will be more aware of that now. The pain is only in my palms and shoots into my fingers. I do not have pain anywhere else. Doesn't last long but it is painful. I have had 3 back surgeries and mentioned it to the PA after this last one and he told me he had never heard of anything like that and said it was probably just a fluke in my body. Really? I also mentioned it to my primary care several years ago and he said he never heard of anything like that. He actually told me he was going to research it but never did. Maybe if it had only happened once or twice I might think it was a "fluke" but it has been going on since that first neck surgery. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 1998 so if it related I can except that. I would just like to know for sure. Good luck to those of you who posted your concerns. I hope anyone that searches for this issue finds that they are not alone.
