I am male with much the same symptoms (pain in both palms when urinating, if I have waited until the need to go is urgent). Mine started 29 years ago after spinal surgery for removal of a benign tumor in the T4-T6 area. I have other lingering nervous system and spasticity effects from the damage and have always assumed this issue is related to it as well.

I have this same problem. I know that when I get pain in my hands when I have to urinate, that I have a urinary tract infection. It never fails. The pain is only on the thumb side of my hand but goes from the thumb to the end of my index finger. Woke me up today and I went to the Walk-in clinic. Dr. Asked me what was wrong and I told him I had a UTI. They tested me and sure enough, I had a UTI. The pain is severe.

I am glad to find these posts. I am a relatively healthy man, 52 yrs. I experience pain in the center of both palms when I urinate. The longer I hold it in, the more sever. The pain is like the soreness felt a day or two after a hard workout. Except this pain pulsates as I urinate.

The symptoms first started a few months after having sever swine flu (105* fever). That was 6 years ago.

I’ve had 4 doctors, including one urologist, tell me they have never heard such a thing and look at me like I am stupid.

I’d be interested to know if any of you have found more information on it.

And here I thought I was the only one with this problem. It feels exactly like electricity going through my arms and hands when I urinate. I also hurt and burn throughout my pelvic cavity. I'm almost 68 and I've had a total hysterectomy. My husband, a doctor, tells me it's IC and he treats it with Pyridium and antibiotics. it sometimes takes a week or more for it to clear up,
but it's not long before I have symptoms again. I'm now on my 5th day of medication and I still hurt as much or more than I did the 1st day. I wish there were something that could be done to prevent these episodes as they are not just painful, they make me miserable.

Nope. I started this thing over a year ago and so far we have all had the usual response from our doctors.. In my case, male 69, I was treated for prostate cancer from May to July of last year. Cyber Knife at Georgetown University Hospital in DC was my choice for treatment. Since then my stream has been that of an 18 year old and the pain is gone. Not that I recommend cancer to anyone but the radiation did stop my pain. Ed

To: rkalaska146357: I can't believe what I'm reading. I've had this for 3 years. As I'm ending urination, I feel a mild, electric tingling down the back of my arms and when it reaches the fingerTIPS, it absolutely hurts! No answers from anyone in the medical field. It's been over a year since you have posted this but if you have been given an answer, would you email me at ***this post is edited by moderator *** *** posting of private e-mails is not allowed*** *** all questions should be discussed on our website *** Please read our Terms of Use

Just googled this to see what it was. I’m 59, healthy weight and am only on Armour for thyroid. I have pain in both palms of my hands. Sometimes worse than others. It’s a tingling pain. I thought I was crazy until I read this blog. It doesn’t seem to be anything to worry about. Thanks for sharing everyone! What did we do before google?!?

As a 66 year old man, I also have had the severe tingling in my left hand when I hold my urine too long. When I mentioned it to a doctor, he was puzzled and asked if it went away and when I said yes, the case was closed, but obviously not resolved!

I am a 61 year old male suffering the same tingling sensations in my hands and feet at the start of urinating for which incidentally I have to self-catheterise. This is because I have to have frequent Botox injections to my bladder which stops the over-active problems I had. Basically my spine is shot in 3 areas which causes other problems.

I have self catheterised now for nearly 2 years but this tingling sensation has only been consciously apparent for the last 6 months. The sensation is really at it's worst if have delayed emptying my bladder.

Although it doesn't cause any real problems other than a shuddering throughout my body when it happens, I am a bit concerned about it mainly if this is leading to or indicating further problems.

Telling the 'specialists' about it is really a waste of breath and time as they are not really bothered about it. So I'm very sympathetic to anybody who suffers these odd sensations and would be interested to know if anybody has had this officially diagnosed and what it's about. Thanks

This is a repeat for those on this thread for a long time but is for the benefit for new comers. I am male age 69 and had this problem for many years. Last may I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in early stage. I had radiation called "Cyber Knife" at Georgetown Hospital in DC. After the 5 treatments and some pain while urinating for about a month, I began to go with a 18 year olds stream and the pain in my hands went away. I also stopped getting up 4-5 times a night. The cancer was obviously blocking the stream and the radiation reduced that. While I don't wish cancer on anyone, in this case the treatment solved the pain and frequent urination.
