I am 50 and for years have experienced achiness in the backs of my fingers and hands when I really, really need to use the bathroom. I mentioned it to my doctor out of curiosity and she had no idea.

I have fairly severe pain in both my hands and fingers when I have waited to urinate. I have much arthritis in my fingers which I feel is the reason. It stops after I start peeing. I mentioned this to my urologist and was told there is no connection. But my arthritic doc says there is. If I urinate before a big need then there is no pain. Arthritic doc says to just ignore it for mow. My fingers are arthritic enough that there are no joints left and one day I may have to have finger joints replaced but I am told to put this off as long as possible as recovery is long and that I could have less movement than I currently have.

I am a 62 year old healthy and active female. I was hiking with a friend today and didn’t see a good spot to stop and pee, so I held it until I got home. The pain in my hands came in waves and was very disturbing, to say the least. I have no other symptoms of a UTI.
I’m wondering if it’s caused by a buildup of uric acid. I would really like to know.
I’ll check with my urologist and let you all know what she says.

48y male. I have had this issue where my left thumb muscle has pain when I need to pee. Seems like it has been going on for many years, but finally got around to googling it. I also googled palm reflexology as suggested by hoseclamps and found that the exact spot I'm feeling pain is associated with bladder on the reflexology chart.

When I have a UTI I experience severe pain in my fingers and sometimes both hands when I urinate. I have experienced this many times over the years and have never seen an explanation for this. Now I finally see that others are having the same symptoms.

I am a younger female and have something similar -- it only started this year, not long after I accidentally started a habit of cracking my knuckles. when I need to pee, my fingers sort of ache --
it doesn't hurt, really, and it's *almost* pleasant, but it's very noticeable and I would definitely describe it as an ache. when it happens, it feels like I have to crack my knuckles, like, to fix it, I guess??
sort of like when you have a mosquito bite, and you feel the need to scratch it, even though you know it won't actually help? I don't know, it's very confusing, but by now whenever it happens I just think "well, its time to go to the toilet then"

yeah, I have something very similar -- the only difference is it doesn't really hurt, it just sort of aches.
it only started after I accidentally started the habit of cracking my knuckles, so I made the same assumption that that is what is causing it and left it at that, but I was still curious, which is why I'm here now

update. I just had a kidney stone removed and seems that the pain is gone now (in my hand)... so perhaps an early warning sign for kidney stone?

I was researching a condition with just the tips of my fingers when I urinate and found this blog
Whenever I hold it too long and then urinate just the very tips of my fingers on both hands burn, and it goes away as soon as I'm done.

That seems like a reasonable answer. I have the same symptoms with a UTI right now. I never get them. But I have recently discovered I am gluten sensitive or have celiac disease. UTI can also be triggered with a flare. What I’m getting at is the role gluten plays in chronic pain. I am gluten free but fell off the wagon with a donut recently and now I have a UTI. Just planting thoughts about chronic pain. Carol
