Hi I've been having the same problem as expressed in the other posts and i've done some looking around on the web. Firstly i'd like to say that for some of you it sounds like you have Batholin Cysts i have had this myself twice once cleared by antibiotics the other needed surgery so if it's at the base of you labia minor just at the opening to your vagina is hard painful  difficult to sit it's a Batholin Cyst which is caused by a blockage to the glands and the mucus that they exude backs up, so go see the doc.

For the others there are some other types of glands that are also getting blocked but they go away they are usually caused by hormonal changes and that's why you see them around the time of your period and the older you get the more they occur, or they are blocked sweat glands, leave them alone they'll clear up, they are a painful nuisance though.

i didn't find any clear options on how to clear them up other than using a warm compress that will open up the ducts releasing their fluid or by using ointments like ichthammol (which as my mum use to say will draw a water buffalo out of mud)

I know operating down there can seem scary and painful but believe me after having a bartholin cyst macupialized (cutting over the duct and stitching the skin back to make a larger opening) i can tell you that the pain is less than what you are already going through not to mention a little thing i found out , the vaginal moistness actually speeds up the healing time. so don't feel nervous i was so glad it was done the cyst was tearfully painful but the op was just uncomfortable. so take the plunge it'll stop it from coming back

look up "Fordyce spots" images. I think this is what you have.

Ladies its seems that we all are suffering from Fordyce spots these are harmless and pain free and caused by an overproduction of sebum. If your spot is painful it is more likey to be a Bartolin's abscess

I know this post started over a year ago but since there have been some more recent replies I thought I would share my experience.  I have had these cysts pop up every once in a while over the past 10 or so years.  Over the last year they got progressivly worse and I would have 3 at a time, all the time.  I usually had relief about one week a month.  It was painful to walk, sleep, use the restroom etc.  I had talked to my OB previously and never really had any good advice other than call the office when it got too bad and they would cut it open.  I tried everything, hot compresses, epsom salt baths and sometimes they worked, sometimes they didn't.

At my last OB visit I begged her to help me find a resolution other than coming in when it got bad (which I never did by the way since I was to embarassed and afraid).  She recommended several new coursese of action and now I am going on 3 months with only 1 pop up.  She recommended trying a zinc supplement and using baby powder to keep the area constantly dry.  She also put me on anti-biotics but I elected to forgoe that option.  I wanted a long term solution and staying on anti-biotics my entire life was not an option.  I will admit that I am terrible at remembering to take any kind of pill daily so I have forgotten the zinc in the past and wouldn't you know I had one pop up.  I took zinc that night and by morning it was gone.  Knowing that I tried so many other options I can't say if it will work for you but it could be worth checking out.

This is my first time having this too. I noticed it and is about the size of a jelly bean and very sore. I tried to squeeze it gently but this hurt too much so I did take a pin to it and a bunch of puss came out. I placed a round cotton pad beside it so any puss would get on that and not on me. Then took a warm rag to the area. Worked like a charm.

You most likely have a Bartholin Cyst. It's formed when the ducts which keep the vagina moist become blocked: there are any number of reasons why this happens. Some cysts are easily treated by antibiotics and some require surgery - it's uncomfortable but it heals and you cannot see any scars. Go to your doctor. If you leave it too long it can become very big, very hard and very very painful. Good luck.

I have a pea-sized cyst under the skin on the upper, outer layer of my labia minora.

I'm learning that there is  a difference between an inner, pimple-type irritation, which can pop inside or forcibly externally, and an inflamed Bartholin gland which are located lower on the labia minora.

I believe mine is the first.

I know exactly what you are talking about. I have gotten these bead like lines under the skin of my labia a few times now. But I am sexually active. And they appear usually when I have has sex quite a few times over the last few days. I just take some ibuprofen and it's gone the next day. It hurts to touch and sit with my legs closed. I wonder what exactly these are.
