From my experience after removal the hormone that the mirena was producing has to completely get out of your system. For me that was almost a year before I had normal regular periods like I used to have before the Mirena. I know it's hard because my husband didn't have any kids and I had 2 from a previous relationship, but we finally got pregnant after a year and nine months. After a year of not conceiving I went to my doctor and my hormone levels were down so they gave me clomid to get those up. After I went off the clomid we got pregnant. There is hope but I know how hard it is to see those negative tests and to jump to there is something wrong. Good luck with everything.

I'm having the same thing going on right now, I had my iud removed bc I was having problems. I swore i was pregnant And my boy friend is really upset bc I told him I thought I had a chemical miscarriage. Now I don't know if I really had one or of it was just an after effect of the iud.

Hello, I to had the IUD for 3 years, it was great, had it removed, my cycle went back on track right away, but every single month, I would swear I was pregnant. Now I am a mother of two daughters, and I really want to have a third child, so this is horrible of every month thinking I am pregnant, to only find out I am not. I have never in my life have felt this before. I am 39 and had both my girls in my early 20's, and had the IUD placed in my mid 30's so I am very worried that I have done something that has damaged my ability to get pregnant. But the emotional monthly let down is just horrible!

Yes I just was told that it can take any where from 6mth to a year to become pregnant because even doh u removed it the hormones remain in your body but hang in there and keep trying. Good luck!!!

me and my husband have been trying to conceive for a year now and i have been having a hard time. i had the mirena taken out on february 7th 2012. i have had my period like clock work for 6 to 7 days once a month like i used to befor it. i have a 5 year old and i wanted to have a brother or sister for her before she turns six. i heard not to try anymore and just have fun so we did! we even tried the method of going upside down to hope the sperm stays inside longer. i made an appointment with the doctor because my friend had gotten her mirena out 4 months ago and just found out she was pregnant two weeks ago! i feel like there's something wrong with me. i know it's not my husband because he has had three children with his ex-wife in the past. and also i had lost the amount of weight the doctor said i should. i wasn't stressing out about this till my friend called me to tell me she got pregnant so quickly after the removal. i'm hurt and nervous now that i'm taking so long to conceive.... help!

I feel the same way you do. I have been trying to get pregnant for the past 8 months after i had the Mirena IUD removed. I had that in me for over 8 years. My gyne told me I shouldnt having a problem conceiving after I remove it.  Both my husband and I have children from previous marriages. I did speak to my gyne about this since I am over 35 years. Gyne still says to give it time. I feel hopeless, sad and incomplete.  I'm speechless.

I had Mirena for just over a year.  I had it removed due to random severe cramping and spotting.  I have been trying for 11 months to get pregnant!!!  No luck.  Everyone says give it one year, but I'm ready to go in for testing. I'm 30 and I'm ready to be a mother.

I had the Mirena IUD for 4 years before getting it taking  out and never had a problem with it when it was inside of me but after getting it taking out I had nothing but problems. I got the Mirena taking out in October 2012 and for the past six months I been trying to get pregnant and nothing yet. I don't even get a period every month sometimes not for two to three months later and when I do it is really bad I bleed alot with blood clots like I just gave birth and it last for about a month. I sometimes get pregnancy symptoms and think I'm pregnant but nothing all my test come out negative and it is really starting to be very stressful and I never went through this before so anybody thinking about getting the Mirena IUD think twice it causes alot of problems weather in or out of your body. I don't recommend it.

I've read all the post and unlike most of the women, my husband and I have been "trying" for over a year. I had my mirena taken out in February 2012 after having it for 3.5 years. My cylces are very irregular; I've gone without a period 2 different months, I've experienced pregnancy symptoms but to no avail and I'm a mother of 3. I'm staying prayerful about and trusting God that we will have a child in His time. But this whole experience is frustrating.

I had the mirena for 7 years and had it removed last Oct 2012, but didn't have a period. in January I took a pregnancy test and it was positive. I went to my first prenatal appt and found out I was 10 weeks but no heart beat I had to have an abortion. The Dr. told me to wait a few weeks to try to conceive. It is now the end of April and I am not pregnant and I haven't had a period. This is very frustrating.
