First piece of advice- please relax.  My husband and I tried for 3 years before he got tested.  He had varicose veins in his scrotum and had to have them removed.  His healing time was 6 months and we were pregnant in 8 months.  Now we have a nearly 5 year old daughter.

I got the Mirena because I've had extreme reactions to other birth control methods.  I love it.  It hurt like hell to get put in but after a few hours I was fine.  I've had no symptoms or problems.  I get light spotting about 3-4 times a year with back cramps but that's better than the 12 times I would get that before Mirena.

Second piece of advice- Don't get too caught up in tests, calenders, temperatures, etc. because you'll lose all the love and passion and it becomes a chore instead of lovemaking.

I am looking to get my IUD out around Halloween and then TTC.  I'll post more about removal, symptoms, periods, ovulation, etc. when I do.

Hi ladies,,, i'm hoping to help all who search for the same questions. Well,,, i've had my ten year, copper T (no hormones) in for about that long. I had it removed May 5th because I started to bleed every day with cramps for 2 months. It was time to get it out. I had it removed and no period!! The doctor never told me that it would play games with my body. I wasn't about to accept this because I have now wasted money on 2 preg neg tests while practicing abstinence until the hubby has his surgery. call me paranoid because theres no way I could've been pregnant when we haven't had sex since 2 weeks before may 5th. So,,,, what i did to get my period was buy Clomid through canadien pharmacy. We are in our mid 30's and never wanted kids. So,,, for me, clomid was going to give me my period instead of help get me pregnant. I did all my research and took Clomid 4 days in a row 2 weeks after my missed period. I got it the day after!!!. Call me crazy but all these years of having a period (not that id miss it at all), has made me realize how unhealthy it can be not to have it. So,,,, i made it happen for myself. I have been frusterated for a long time that there is nothing good out there for females to be on. Pills and anything with hormones just screws everything up. For me,, the iud was the best thing i could have used but always had longer, heavier periods with cramps. yes,,,it kills when it is put in. I vomited, had diarrhea and passed out after the doc put it in 10 years ago. Removal was a sinch, quick pinch. another thing that helps you get your period too is Humphreys 11 (natural herbs),,, my friend took it after she had her iud removed and it worked as well. So,,, there is hope for all of us and we don't just have to leave it be.

Had the same issue with having the MirenaIUD removed and then being unable to get pregnant although I had preg. symptoms and increasingly heavier, later and crazier periods every month. Except it wasn't just a month or two- it took us a *year and a half* to conceive even though the docs said there was nothing wrong with either of us. I know this is an old post but I wanted to put this up so other women would know and not think its just them. Prior to getting the Mirena, I had never had an irregular, late or missed period in my life. Its like your body is torturing you- you want to get pregnant, you get the symptoms, your period comes a week later than the month before EVERY MONTH and then its the  period FROM HELL. And it was only horrid on the months we had sex during ovulation. If we didn't have sex then (we skipped it once on accident and again as an experiment) my periods were normal, with no issues. It was good while I had it but I will never get the Mirena again. The aftereffects were hellish. :(

Hello everyone, I could really use some advice, my drs wont help me out that much and im gettin a little stressed!

I was on the iud for 2 1/2 years. i didnt have any period the whole time i was on it. I am a very active person I liked to play softball ride 4wheelers motorcycles horses and drink on the occasional outings so just to be on the safe side I would take a pregnancy test every other month. The end of april my test came back positive, (i had to double check because they always came back neg!) I went to the dr and they did a blood test to determine that i was about 4 weeks pregnant. my dr told me and my husband that they had to remove the iud. Two days later i woke up in the middle of the night in bad pain, went to the hospital and they did another blood test to tell me that i had miscarried. We then decided that we do want a baby. I had a normal period the month of may but june and july i didnt have a period at all. I took 3 test one clear blue that came up positive then 2 more after that both said negative. I took a blood test and my dr said that it came back that it was negative and my numbers were really low? I feel like i am preg so i waited a week and took another test and it came back positive, but i took one more test this morning and it said neg! I am so confused and i dont want to be one of those people who get a blood test every week, and them come back negative and my hopes get let down again! I dont know when we should try because i havent ever really had a normal period. We had sex every other day in July and still didnt come up preg. I dont know what to do. any help would be awesome!

I had the Mirena IUD for almost 5 yrs did not have a period the time i had it and had it removed 3 yrs ago going on 4 this Dec 2011...still no regular cycle and no pregnancy. i have gained weight and had more health problems since having it removed Have been trying to get preg since I had it removed. Went to Gyno, everything ok with hubby and I, but no baby! Honestly if I had to do it all over again I would defenately choose another form of birth control. took Estrogen therapy to kick start my period, no luck! Do not know what to do anymore.....this situation is ruining my relationship.....!

I had the IUD for almost 2 years. I had to have it taken out because it was causing me too much pain. I have cysts from having the IUD now all the time. They won't go away. I have been trying to get pregnant for almost two years now and no results. I had no problem with conceving the first child. I would not reccommed this IUD to anyone. It is aweful when you are trying so hard and you know that the IUD is the cause of it.

I had the IUD for five years, I had it removed in January. I am 15 weeks pregnant today. My doctor told me a few trick to try to help me get pregnant, I hope they will help you as well. First you and you partner stay away from heated seats and hot bathwater. Second when having sex you want to be on the bottom, after your partner comes tilt your hips upward for about 20mins. Third do not have sex everyday, every other day is fine. but you want to have sex starting on the 11th day from the day your cycle begins. Your fertile 2 days before your ovulation days and 2 days after. I hope this helps and good luck.

I have the marina for 5 month after I had my second baby, and then had to remove it because of the nonstop bleeding it was causing. Yes it was like having a period for 5 months so we took it out and started trying for baby #3. We have been trying 6 months now with 'no-joy'.

Hi my name is Mari. I just had my mirena removed two weeks ago. I have read a majority of the post and i am wondering. Through the 4yrs of me and the mirena i had 7 day long periods and spotting for 4 or 5 days after. I had really bad cramps and the bleeding was so bad that sometimes it would go through my tampons not to be so blunt but it scared me. I gained so much wait with it, 45 pounds to be exact and i was bloated all the time. The only way i could lose weight was by cutting all carbs out of my diet and go to the gym litedrally twice a day... but who has time for that being a miliary wife, and stay at home mom. Well after having the mirena removed i have had breast sorness and lower back pain and my overies have been hurting a lot. i have lost 10lbs in two week but i am also trying to get prego no luck but its still early. I just hope that this iud that was so wonderful has not done any damage to my baby developer lol. Has any one had the same issues as I???
