I believe I may have caught this virus from one of my students. I developed a low-grade migraine on Thursday night and had it all day Friday. On Friday night I develop a 100+ degree fever with chills and sweats. By Saturday morning I woke up with a horrible head-splitting migraine. My head throbs constantly, all of my nasal passages are tender to the touch including my eyes. Lymph nodes in the neck are a little swollen, and throat has become slightly sore. It is now Wednesday night and the headache has not let up one bit. I visited the ER two times, and both times was put on an IV. They conducted a CAT scan with no irregular results. Blood test results came back fine. The ER doctor said this is most likely a virus that will last 5 to 7 days and to disregard my original diagnosis at the clinic of a sinus infection. Now my husband is starting to feel a headache coming on too. Is there a name for this virus yet?? It's definitely not influenza, I tested negative for the flu.

I started having a horrible headache a week ago, thought maybe it was stress related or dehydration. I rarely get headaches that bad. Went on the whole week and then my 11yr old son started complaining of the same headache (in the temples and back of head)

My wife has had virus for four weeks now been doctors and hospital got given no explanation only viral infection take pain killers she keeps being sick dizziness hot and cold flushes serve headaches it's crazy we had symptoms too but only for a week my wife can't shake it off

Yes, me too. 3 weeks of dull headache and neck pain, out of body aura and dizziness, panic attacks. Some sneezing too. Terrible depression and feeling of doom (no history of depression) for two weeks. Some of my friends have a combination of all of the symptoms posted here: in a variety of levels of seriousness. I'm very relieved that it seems to be a virus or a post viral syndrome. No cure I guess, but Nurofen has worked to ease the headache.

Dull headache covering right parietal region (side of head) and pressure at base of neck going on for over a week. It never gets better although I haven't taken much for it. Annoying! Stomach does get twangs of pain off and on with a little diarrhea. Appetite ok. Was getting concerned and thinking ok I need to go to the dr for a CT Scan but am hoping this is what it is and will go away.

I would definitely get checked out. With meningitis you have severe headache and it is painful to touch your chin to your chest. Sore neck. Just to be on the safe side.

I went to the city yesterday and by the time I got home last night I began to feel unwell, a headsplitting headache, shivering, dizzy, shaking and went straight to bed, I didn't sleep until after 2am when symptoms seamed to calm but have been in bed all the next day with headache still feeling shaky and drained.

What is this nasty thing? My husband and I had the worst headaches of our lives...and i get migraines but this was worse. We both packed our heads with ice packs. It lasted for days. Then we got a cough &congestion. Dizziness, weakness, back or kidney pain -not sure which, eye pain ...its horrible!! I thought we were dying. This isnt the typical flu or virus.. Feels like your heads exploding.

I have had continuous headache/pain & pains in eyes for over 3 weeks & paracetamol doesn't help, feel like I've got flu but haven't - I'm 81 & don't usually suffer with headaches. Any advise please as feel to ill to do anything.

I went to the ER yesterday. This big has given me a terrible heavy duty headache. So bad they did a cat scan. Torodol inj didn't help.Fourth day and am only a little better.

Yes a lot of people have had this virus now, i had awful headache, aches on neck and shoulders, nausea, hot sweats and dizzy spells. Taking paracetamol tablets didn't work much, just got to get through it and let the virus take its course. Drink lots and rest. It's scary though

I might have this myself. I suffer from chronic migraines, so headaches are an unfortunately common feature of my life, but this week I've been experiencing something different from my normal pattern, and dizziness is a major symptom. As long as I am lying down I don't notice it, but even moving around a little bit, walking slowly around the house or climbing the stairs, and I have to lie down ASAP. My neighbor, who is 18, also had a few days' bout with dizziness and headache this week, so maybe it is a thing. Hope your son feels better soon, and that I do as well!
